Alot of it comes down to the individual.

Never played as a permanent KPF in colts as far as I know. Mostly HF, wing and on-ball.

morabito has talent and potential... but his first season has been SOOOOOOO overrated on here. I suggest everyone takes a step back and reduces their expectations. i think a reasonable expectation of him for next year would be 14 games. none missed through injury, i just expect that he will struggle at times, and as long as the games where he is dropped are at the start of the year and he begins to come good towards the end, then i think he will have had a solid platform to launch in to 2013 and start to reach his potential

as for his position, i quite like the idea of him forward at times. he is similar in dimensions to the great man pav... i think though he will ultimately become a midfielder

If Morabito joins up with the main group and completes a full preseason, he could play 18+ games next year. Remember that he did hid ACL at almost the best time to do one so he will recover from it better than others mid season.
The other thing that will play in his favour is that we don't have Harves pushing him to get back underdone anymore
Cancelling his trip to Bali sink bintang and get a tan he doesn't need will also do him the world of good.

Mora in the midfield, his knee will be 15months in and if its not solid for round 1 then it's a long term problem.

KPR reckon his first year was par if not better than Scully,Trengove and Martin picked before him and played every game which is more than those mentioned.

The guy's a freak, he is a direct replacement for Pav and can play anywhere but would be better suited for CHF, FF later in his career. Check out the similarities with Pav for first year, similar stats, same pick, size.

If he's ready structurally , he's ready.

As for where he plays. How about a back role.
It's been mentioned he pulled out of a few contests in his first year and I remember him getting some hard keyboard action in this forum. My take on him was he seemed more about being careful of others than careless about himself.

The Backs generally seem to be a bit smarter and more adaptable than forwards so I reckon he should be tested in the backline for all the reasons that he could develop him into our own home grown gorilla.

Sure he could be all sorts of things but if he can be taught complete disregard for the opposition's well being , which can be learned bloody quick in the backline then a back flanker with his ability would be awesome.

Chopper on the other flank I'd like to see that.

What's he like overhead?

The game changers of today seem to be hybrid attacking midfielders, I'd personally prefer him to stay in the middle. However at this stage I just want to see him back on the park.

He's certainly the forgotten man in all the Fyfe hype.

its not the knee that im worried about, his knee should be structuraly fine. its his confidence, his first 6-10 games in 2010 were your usual standard "kid's" games as his confidence was low, because as a youngster there will always be lingering internal doubts as to whether he can make it. after having a serious knee injury its going to take a year to get full confidence back into his knee and into his own ability i believe.

on the harvey thing, im not involved in the inner workings of the club, i havent heard any club official say that part of the reason he was sacked was because of injury management.... has there been anything said on this? i reckon the club sacked harves because they found a proven finals coach moreso than the injury management thing. though i could be wrong

in all seriousness do you really think morabito was THAT outstanding in his first year? many players have had better first years. I rate morabito highly, i just dont think he will dominate in 2012 after a serious knee injury when he didnt dominate in 2010. I would hate for mora to have the same ridiculous expectations put on him that palmer had.

again, im not worried about the structure of his knee, it is common knowledge that it takes most players a 9-12 months to recover from a ACL rupture, and a another year to get over the mental scarring... and i have said in my original post that i think morabito is all quality, but i think we should temper our expectations on a kid who has played, what 22 games? 24?

it drives me insane coming on this board and reading people bag the shit out of young guys who have had serious injuries and havent lived up to their own unrealistic expectations, clay does it with suban, everyone did it with palmer and fully expect people among us to do it with morabito next year, which sucks balls IMO

fair call, but i have heard many on here talk about him being a game breaker, a star etc etc, he hasnt been a game breaker in one game that he has played in. i think he will be a star one day, but not in 2012, unless i am pleasantly proven wrong.... Look at andy otten for instance, a very good young player, similar build, all be it playing in a different position, he came back this year and was dropped a couple of times, by the end of the season he was playing good footy, and that was with what is considered the best sports science team in the comp. I expect the same output from morabito as what otten gave

Off the topic at hand slightly, but still on Mora, I was told this week that during his one on one with Coach Lyon he was asked what he was doing during the break. He replied that he was going to Bali with some of the team and Ross said to him do you think Chris Judd is going to Bali for his off season?

Trip was canceled soon there after.

Take this as you will but I have strong belief in the information and like what I hear from both sides, A coach instilling professionalism into his players and a player wanting to be the professional.

That's my preference, a HBF in 2012 then CHB in 2013 and beyond.

Chad Cornes is a knob but he was great as an attacking CHB when Port were a really good side and I can see Mora filling that same role.

I really hope doing that knee won't limit him athletically because that is his biggest strength. If we're to win a premiership any time soon, Mora becoming an elite player is one of the things that has to happen.

agreed. he was ace in his first season. might not have racked up huge possessions, but his work off the ball was huge - shepherding and creating space. not to mention the running goals (sometimes at important stages in the game), the long runs of HB, the kicks from HB that started movements into attack. i know we need to temper our expectations, but downplaying mora's ability confuses me as he definitely showed the player he can be. he's part of that group of first year players who came on to immediate effect that has raised expectations for future recruits. i don't think some on here would be as disappointed with pitt if it wasn't for dudes like mora.

His first year may have been over-rated, but he still showed his huge potential, and given development in his fitness base through pre-seasons, that is enough to suggest big upsize. He may be a midfielder and not a KPP, but he doesn't play like a young big boy who simply dominates at lower levels because of his size. I think he still has a lot to learn about how he can use his size to advantage, and his attitude suggests he will.
