Where Mora eventually settles is likely a function of who is going to be reaching the end of their career soon (ie. positions vacant). In that list we can include Pav, Maca, Duffman, Mundy, ... Of those, a big strong Mundy replacement would be nice - but I would take any.

And I'm not convinced that ones height pigeon-holes you to a certain position. ie: 190-191cm = 3rd tall.

He is big, strong, mobile and supremely fit. He has good hands in the air and on the ground and can kick 60 metres with reasonable accuracy.

Perfect roaming CHF in the Reiwoldt/Pav mould.

We have a great group of players who can be genuine weapons working from the back-line including Hill, D Pearce and Morabito. They are evasive, great pace and their delivery is above average. With the current style of game play in the AFL those guys can break open an opposition and take us quickly from defence to attack. I fully accept that Mora's kicking is more about distance than precision, but it is still a weapon.

Any of those three can work forward as well, and I can see Mora developing as a forward at some stage. But we have other mids who look great rolling into the forward line; Fyfe, Mzungu, Barlow, Sylvia etc, plus of course Mundy who can do anything he damn well pleases.

Really it is a beautifully balanced group of quality players that we can utilise.

He is playing back at the moment so he has the game in front of him.There is less twisting and turning .When he gets his confidence back in his knee he will be back playing mid/forward

That's how I see it playing out as well, with Mora pushing even deeper up the ground onto the wings ala Richo and even Buddy.

His beauty, (LOL), is that not only can he kick with penetration, but he can burst away, take one or two bounces and make an 80-90 metre advantage play from one possession.

That is a very dangerous weapon to have in our side.

I fully understand why he is primarily being played back at present, salim malik nailed it , but I don't think that he is enough of a natural reader of the game unfolding in front of him to cement a place in the back half. Obviously, Tanner and A. Pearcce are earmarked for those positions at present.

For the life of me I can not ever remember Mora taking a contested mark, I can't see how he would be considered for a KPF role. Even though he may be Pav's height, he centainly doesnt play tall like Pav. Mora doesn't have that judgement like Pav & Fyfe to mark the ball at the highest point of thier jump. Even though Fyfe is shorter than Mora, Fyfe would be the better KPF.

Anyway, these days 191cm is too short to be a KPF.

Just arguing semantics here, but Pav never takes the ball at it's highest point. He does however, take a good (sometimes contested) mark.

Mora ain't no forward, yes he can play there, but like most AFL quality players they can play in any position and impact a game.
The key is putting them where they make the most impact and forward line for Mora IMO isn't where it's at. Mora excels in 1 on 1 ground ball situations and bursting packs on his feet, he's not an aerial beast.
You can have your own opinions on it but that's a proven fact, he's a big bodied mid not a creative nor defensive forward.

As for mobile CHF, they're called flankers. Teams need marking options these days more than ever given the punishment that can be dealt from offensive attacks out of own defensive 50. Spilt forward entries are a dangerous side effect of your mobile CHF type

Agree. For example, Andrejs Everitt (194) did a ripping job tonight tagging Deledio. Never thought I'd see a 194cm tagger.

I don't know what experience Mora has playing as a KPF, but I do know he is a very powerful man. Which is what makes blokes like Tex Walker and Matthew Pavlich dangerous. It's very difficult to defend against. I can see it working, though it may take some time.

Sure Mora can play forward if he is put there. But overhead marking is certainly one of his weaker areas. But the luxury of having another tall big bodied player alongside Pav in the forward line is mouth watering. But it's hard to see him taking plenty of contested grabs.

I'm not comparing him with them on pure ability at all, (that is just bloody stupid), but I am using them as examples of forwards who either a.) run their opponents into the ground by pushing up to the wings or b.) use their strength and nouse in marking contests.

There seems to be this romantic notion that gun KPF's crash packs at will and stand on peoples shoulders weekly to dominate their opponent, and that I am not sorry to say is just plain wrong.

Pav, for example, does take some brilliant pack marks, but his far more potent weapon is out-positioning and out-strengthening(?) his opponent in one on one contests, or wearing him down by smart, repititive leading into the right places. When he is double, triple and even quadruple teamed, (as we have seen so often in the past), his influence is massively lessened and he relies on his footy smarts to get the pill.

Mora has that aerobic capacity to break an opponents heart, (like Reiwoldt or Richo), and has the booming kick of a Buddy from the wings, along with a bounce or 3.

He doesn't have to be a Brett Burton to hold down CHF plus he has a young, highly skilled midfield to feed him, and the noises that Lyon is making tend to back this up.

Anyway, we shall see.
