I really hope he gets a start. This business of making a player on debut/player returning from injury the substitute is beyond stupid. It doesn't give them a feel for the game and puts them under pressure to be more remarkable due to limited minutes. By all means, substitute them off if they aren't up to it, but don't start them as the sub.

Yeah or maybe the coaches want to make sure that they get the least amount of minutes and are cautious about a potential injury.

Or maybe they think that first quarters are extremely important and want their best chance of winning them.

Or maybe they want to let the sub player play against players that are already a little fatigued.

Or maybe they only do it to the players that are reasonably versatile to cover injuries / game plan changes etc.

Or maybe they want to use them as a bit of a wildcard in case of emergency.

Or maybe they are just beyond stupid. Ross Lyon you stupid, silly little man!

When they start a player, he may not get the opportunity to get subbed out if there is an injury to another player and the sub is used. Even if the injury occur in the first quarter its still considerably less time than the full game.
So if they want to limit the minutes on a player it makes more sense to put him as the sub.

That being say, hope Mora gets to start :)

And let's remember that he was taken at pick 4 in the 2009 draft which netted us Fyfe (20). Others brought into our team at this time help to realise just how long ago it was: Joel Houghton, Jesse Crichton, Dylan Roberton, Justin Bollenhagen and Greg Broughton. It's an interesting draft year in that there's a few who, for various reasons, haven't yet come on: Gary Rohan (6), John Butcher (8), Kane Lucas (12), Christian Howard (15), Daniel Menzel (17), Ben Griffiths (19). Then there is the occasional divisive player such as Sheppard (7).

It's funny, though, this draft hindsight thing. I remember some were up in arms that we took Fyfe and let Aaron Black slide. Whilst it is likely that Black will serve a wonderful career, it is doubtful that it'd be Fyfe-like.

In any case, I am already feeling emotional about Saturday. My wife laughed when I suggested that we buy a nice bottle of bubbly to consume while watching the game. She doesn't realise I'm serious...

Just wonderful. Very impressed with how he spoke in the interview too.
Very mature, humble, grateful, and good emotional intelligence. He looks like such a bruiser but he has a good mind.
Oh I can't wait for this game now.

Unfortunately at the time, I was one of them. I remember saying "Oh great, another f'n utility, just what we need". I also thought the club got it wrong taking Hill over Rich. Probably highlights why I'm not a recruiter. I've got zero talent for spotting talent.

Well you would be pretty happy with Rich and Black. Both our picks were high risk, high reward. The other 2 were pretty safe options. You win some you lose some. Who knows how Pitt might have turned out.

Been saving this for when he was finally named in the team! Me and "Big Tony" last year on GF day at the 'G, upper levels, at halftime -- photo taken by Tendai Mzungu's dad!
