So happy to hear about the return of Mora! I remember just how exciting he was to watch in his debut season. Here's hoping we get to see one of his blistering runs on Saturday ala Elimination Final with Hawthorn 2010. Awesome!

Could this guy be the missing link to us winning a flag?Booming kick, very athletic and can tackle as well. Over 190cm and over 90kg. Another beast of an athlete who can break the lines and carry the ball. I'm excited. Enter Morrabito!

Just wanted to pass on my best wishes to the guy.

I know Max Bailey pretty well and to see what he had to go through with his 3 reco's was hard to take.

I hope he gets to experience the same fairytale that Max eventually got to live through.

I would love to see this kid and Freo win a Premiership (just not against the Hawks of course)

At Geelong we have a similar story to both Bailey and Morabito in Menzel so I'm sure a lot of Geelong folks are hoping for a successful return to the ranks for Morabito (sounds like he has been playing well in the WAFL).

Hoping he has a good game, gets through without problem and continues on with his promising career. :thumbsu:

6pr sports report this morning noted that the recent noise about mora looking elsewhere at seasons end if he wasn't given an opportunity apparently forced the hand of freo to get him some game time. Take what you want from it, but I would be disappointed if he left given freo stuck by him. At least another year with us then move on if he had to. Also, most interest was from eastern clubs and he would have likely went there instead of to the weagles

Sounds like a Hagdorn report. In other words, totally baseless and speculative.

Gotta give it to the kid for hanging in there. Three reco's is a terrible thing to endure, but 4? Insane. Even if he doesn't get back (fingers crossed for the guy) he definitely won't die wondering what could have been. Hopefully he's back sooner than expected.

This is probably coming from the same sources that said Fyfe and Mundy won't re sign with us. LOL I bet it's 100% horse shit. Not saying anything against you, you're just posting what those morons on the radio said. But some of these reports often come from the biggest arse clowns in the job. I'll wait til I hear that from the horses mouth, rather than the horses arse before I believe it. Besides, what do you think Ross' response to someone saying "play me or I'm off" would be? I'd imagine it would be "don't let the door hit you on the way out, and give my regards to Viv". Just sayin.

Edit: Luke Ball is an example of Ross' care factor if someone want's to leave because they're not getting what they want.

No offence taken, just passing on current media noise. I personally wouldn't think Mora will want to leave, he will get his 2-4 games for the remainder of the year, get a taste and the relationships and journey he's begun will keep him at freo. Assuming they still want him

The funny thing about all that noise was that none of it was actually based on anything said by Morabito or his management.

Some hack wrote an article about him being BOG for the last umpteen weeks in the WAFL (not correct anyway) and how he 'would be getting frustrated'. Cometti jumps in and says 'Morabito is listening to the wrong people' (irrespective there is no evidence of the fact). And now it's presented as faint accompli in every article about him. FFS.

Unfortunately at the time, I was one of them. I remember saying "Oh great, another f'n utility, just what we need". I also thought the club got it wrong taking Hill over Rich. Probably highlights why I'm not a recruiter. I've got zero talent for spotting talent.

I confess I was pissed that we didn't take Butcher instead of Mora. Ironically they currently have played the same number of games.

Unleash the Beast!!

I'm a bit worried that everyone's expectations of what Anthony will produce tomorrow are a bit too high. Obviously there is excitement, but I think the expectations need to be pared down a notch or two. First and foremost, he should get thru the game without further injury, and secondly, get a few touches. Anything more than that might be a bit unrealistic.

Of course, I am happy to be wrong, but just remember what it was like for Mickey B. when returning from his broken leg. It takes time to return from a long absence.

All the best Anthony :thumbsu:

Current Media Noise = They (media) are behind the push.
Assuming they still want him?? Is that you Tim Gossage??

I love it when people post with a little bit of "snide" to go with the post.

I have strong noise from inside the club that the way it has played out was always going to be the case ie. get him in for the run home towards the finals, play around 8 games and have a massive weapon ready for a serious crack at this years finals. This is from a senior person inside the club. It has had NOTHING to do with this ridiculous report about him wanting to leave because "boo hoo they wont play me"

Frikken media ... Hash Tag If they still want him..... WTF!!!

Can't speak for everyone, but I dont think its solely the expectation. Primarily, everyone I think is just glad to finally have the bloke back in the side. Only the casual observer would be expecting him to blitz the field first AFL game back in ages. He'll come in as sub most likely and the only expectation or pressure on him will be from what RTB demands of any member of the team (hence the wait to break into side). Performance, statistics etc. I think we all accept will come with time at AFL level

I can't wait for the moment. May fortune favour the brave.

I think we'll likely see similar output in his first few games as what the likes of Sylvia/Sheridan/Crozier have produced - not setting the world on fire, but playing their roles, and putting defensive pressure first. As both Sylvia and Mora get more AFL game time under their belts and gain more experience playing in the Lyon system, we will hopefully start to see some of their true potential, building towards finals...

...and any 4-bounce, 50m sprint efforts into the forward line, followed by a bomb on goal from Mora will just be icing on the cake ;)

If his manager was telling him to look elsewhere (FTR, I don't believe it for a second)Mora needs to fire his dumb arse. How much currency does a guy with 23 games and three consecutive knee recons have anyway? I'm sure the opposition clubs were just licking their lips. Common sense obviously isn't common amongst journos.

Reckon this was always the plan to ease him against some easier opponents and hope he is cherry ripe come the finals...

Hill is out for the game and Clancee back in. If it was me I would put Clancee on the HBF and move Sutty into Hills role in the middle. Mora the sub whererver needed at the time. So stoked for this game, pity will no be at the ground but it will be better for him to get this first game quietly under his belt in Darwin and then come back to Perth the following week where he will still get big reception but could easily be starting in that game.
