Was listening to 882 yesterday morning and a caller asked the panel how Morabito was going.

Haggers said that his new ACL is made of fibre optic and can easily be replaced if he breaks down again. They have also inserted a back up synthetic ACL to make it double-strength. (They inserted a graft as well as the LARS).

Haggers also mentioned that Mora was doing knee exercises within 1 hour of coming out of surgery and that he is only 2 weeks away from resuming full training.

Perhaps if anyone else heard this on the radio yesterday they could correct me if I miss heard this please.

Thanks muchly Harry. Hope Haggers isn't talking out of his crumpet faced arse again.

Menzel is back in full training with Geelong after his third ACL and then Lars which I think was performed about the same time as Moras
Must give Anthony a huge confidence boost about getting back into full training

Is that the one they kept secret? I mean that it was a LARS? i think it may have been a month or two before moras...

could be wrong though

When Mora gets back and plays his return game no matter where I/ll be there with bells on
Emotion will be running rampant, will be a great moment in Freos history

I would like to see the guy straight back into the team (against a Melbourne or Port) and not go through the WAFL. Only when deemed fit. I think it would mean a lot to the lad and it would be devastating if something happened during a WAFL game and the emotion in the crowd and the players would be great.

Maybe not realistic in today's game of AFL and I think I am a little emotional still after watching, well this ......

Although I hope he's return game is in Perth, so his friends, family and thousands of freo fans can give him a standing applause, I would love it if his return game was in Melbourne, just so I can be there, standing, clapping whilst having tears of joy running down my face. Will be quite an emotional moment.

The thing is that he had his second reconstruction on 19 July 2012 after playing 8 games with Peel (7 League + 1 Reserves):

http://www.fremantlefc.com.au/news/2012-07-18/second-knee-reconstruction-for-morabito

If you look at the draft that year the following talented players have had their own injury troubles:
- Gary Rohan (22 games): Pick 6
- John Butcher (13 games): Pick 8
- Daniel Menzel (21 games): Pick 17 (Had LARS a month before Morabito)

Plus the following in the top 20 who have played very little football:
- Andrew Moore (13 games): Pick 9
- Kane Lucas (18 games): Pick 12
- Christian Howard (16 games): Pick 15
- Jaspar Pittard (13 games): Pick 16
- Luke Tapscott (19 games): Pick 18
- Ben Griffiths (18 games): Pick 19

Then there is Aaron Black who many on here were desperate to recruit and he has only played 4 games. So my point is that Morabito is still very young. He covered off some pre-season training between Oct and early Jan, he played 8 WAFL games in 2012 and given he only had the second reconstruction on 19 July 2012 it wasnt unreasonable to not expect him back until mid season.

I saw footage again on ABC news tonight of his minor twist and tackle on 9 Jan and it was a very small movement so LARS is hopefully the necessary treatment for his knee to hold up. Menzel from Geelong had LARS a month before Morabito and started full training on Monday and he is expecting to play round 1 or 2 in the VFL. As such it looks like Morabito will resume near full training on the eve of Round 1 (AFL) which would be just over 2 months from his surgery date (21/1/13) with an additional month before likely resumption in the WAFL (i.e. approx. 4 weeks into the season).

Just took a look at that draft...pretty poor overall in terms of quality. Out of the Top-20 picks you can't get too excited outside the top 4, Fyfe and Jetta.

Amazing that Fyfe went at 20, Eagles must have been genuinely devo given they took Wheedon (delisted) and Stevens almost immediately after.

Rookie draft was handy for us with Barlow and Silvagni, but the later half of the main draft included such winners as Houghton (two picks before Sam Reid goddamnit), Bollenhagen, Roberton. Luckily almost no one of quality went after the latter two.

Come on Mora, get back!
