The sad part he still wants to try other medical options to get his career going. He has invested so much time in AFL I hope he gets all the support he can when he does retire. Possibly a role within the club!
Think there comes a point where one needs to think about their long term health.

It looks like its all conjecture. Apart form hearing that he is looking at every possible angle and the club is looking all over the world we dont know anything. I dont know if he can come back but I felt more positive than I have in a while about his return.

Not making any assumptions but noticed Mora walking on the bike path along the river next to the Fwy yesterday morning while I was stuck in peak hour traffic heading towards the city - near Preston Street Jetty, Como. Got me thinking and whilst I'm sure the club is supporting him with all options of treatment I think he is done. It has a very similar ring to the Jayden Pitt scenario and I think something more official will come out later in the year. Wouldn't be surprised if he made the decision yesterday.
Was he holding up a sign saying, 'I'm thinking of retiring, yo'? Otherwise, what's his walking got to do with his retiring?

It's a rumour. Of course it has an element of conjecture. That said I believe this is based in fact. I'm calling it, in my opinion he will retire, and has played his last game for Freo.
I'd be delighted for both him and us if he could make it back. I just don't believe he will.
I love the guy's determination and will to succeed - I want him to play, I want him to win and reach all his goals.
Somewhere out there will be the answer, I'm sure of it.
But all that being said... you don't scour the earth for an answer, if the problem doesn't demand it.

He doesnt have 6 months to rest at Freo as they will delist him if he doesnt play this season. That would mean he would need to play WAFL next season and hope a club picks him up. Given his injury history hard to see many showing interest.

I think now that Sylvia is out of the way both Mora and the club would be more open to giving it another go, pending positive advice from the experts of course.

Its called logic and looking at the probabilities. How many years have gone past? Even if he does recover what chance is there he will ever reach his full potential.
Just looks like some people dont know when to let go.

Man, feel for the kid but I honestly would be amazed to see him forge a football career at this point.
I know certain high profile players have pushed through chronic knee conditions, but it's hard to compare two individual cases. At a certain point Mora has to consider life after football. Feasibly he could comeback and push through what will likely always be a problem, but you have to think about the long-term state that all that stress on your body leaves you in. For those who've never suffered knee problems, it's hard to grasp how debilitating they can be.
If he feels he can go on, then by all means go for it. I just have my doubts.
Otherwise my advice is finish that degree and buy a bike, your knees will thank you.

So can we compare with the athletes that have recovered, posters who have have gone through it or both or neither?
Sounds like this is the final decision coming up. I'm sure with so much down time Mora and his support network will be going over all the avenues. If having one more crack doesn't seem like its a bad idea he may take it, he may not.
Dodgy knee wrecked my ambitions for footy but I never had as much talent as Mora has in his big toe. It's better comparing to another athlete than to us mere mortals.
I was hardly comparing myself to an elite athlete. Regardless of whether or not you're an professional athlete there will always be associated problems with any kind of orthopaedic surgery. Thems the breaks.
As for how much these problems impact individuals, you can't really compare anybody to anybody else. Statistically Mora would be an absolute anomaly to come back from this, I think we have to accept that.
I still have memories of Andrew Browne and Ryley Dunn. At some point club needs to cut their losses and move on. Harsh, but that's life sometimes.
I still can't believe how long Browne managed to survive on our list.
