Injury Morabito

Was he ever good with his disposal?

Certainly had the ability to roost the ball, but they always had more than a touch of the Crowley Bomb about it.

He's got a good long kick and is also good at the flat bullet pass to a leading player, doesn't have the finesse or creativity of say, a Mundy with his kicks

Was talking to someone associated with Peel today. Morabito has been doing 8 minute bursts onfield in the first 3 quarters with 6 minutes bursts in the last. All the other midfielders do 4 minute bursts throughout the game.
It was mentioned that he has been ready for the last 2 weeks but Freo are being ultra cautious with him.

On a side note it was also mentioned that when they compared the West Coast players to the Freo players the Freo ones tended to 'blow up' alot quicker than their cross-town rivals. Someone up the road is either very good in the fitness dept or we just aren't quite there yet.

Or the eagles have certain pharmaceutical advantages other teams don't avail themselves of.

That might be age-related and/or just coincidence. Faulks certainly doesn't have a big tank. And quite a few of our Peel players are in 1st or 2nd seasons.

Just a thought but don't have time to do comparison of Peel players.

Just pick him this week for Fyfe's sake

60 metre kicks on a 30 degree trajectory = excellent penetration.
The only drawback has been accuracy kicking on goal which has been attributed by many to over confidence. ( esp from long distance ).
Likening Morabito to Crowley in kicking is ridiculous.

I am with Junglemuffin on this. I always thought he went for distance over accuracy at times and gave the impression he looped it a little. Happy to be proved wrong on his return. Not sure the Crowley comparison is ridiculous.

We haven't had too many games with Mora to compare him with Ryan Crowley kicking but I am honestly amazed that people are making such a comparison .
Crowls' kicks have gone up , over and landed while Mora's are still hurtling along . He's a longer kick than Grover.
As I said my only gripe is his accuracy. He has missed sitters from 60 metres out under no pressure. ( at mid post height ).

Just throwing it out there that he can bomb the ball a bit.

Keep it in the back of your mind.

That's an understatement!!!

Seriously anyone that can run the length of the ground in a final casually bouncing the ball and then cooly slot it from 40 needs to be playing. The boy is a brute around stoppages, arrogant to the point of using the don't argue or just simple running away from players, tackles hard, can roost it 60. Fair dinkum anyone doubting his effectiveness as an AFL footballer chill out. He's a beast.

I loved his game, and think he'll be an excellent player for us. I've compared him to Kouta before, and think he can have the ame sort of impact, I just don't think he is blessed with composure and precision with the ball in hand like some of our other players. That's OK though, leave that do the whippets, he can be the beast grunt.

What we haven't all been exposed to yet is the impact that Ross Lyon may have on him.
We could be in for a massive boost with Mora.
Let's be honest here. He has huge potential but really it's pretty much untapped.

Comparisons to Goodes and Koutafides, which aren't outrageous, don't get thrown around lightly.
For a bloke whose played 21 or so games Ross Lyon is going to relish working with him, hence the
very cautious approach to his return.

A bit effusive, but right now his return is the most anticipated at Fremantle.

He ll be back against Bulldogs in two weeks. Why risk the travel?

Yeah, damn straight. He might not get cleared to play due to the head knock, but even if he is - why risk him in, lets face it, an almost certain loss when he can be eased in at home against a softer opponent? We're desperate for some classy x factor in our list, but I think Ross et al. will hold off a touch longer.

BTW, on kicking, I can see where Muffin is coming from, I've noticed those loopy bomb type kicks when a shorter sharper kick would be the way to go, but he's obviously got a decent roost on him when he needs it too and clearly he's not the finesse/precision type, but he'll be OK in that dept.

Wouldnt call them loopy kicks, i would call it like junglemuffin said, likes to bomb it in.
He knows he can kick it a long way and everyone loves seeing someone pump it in long.
A bit too often he tends to run with it then pump it in as long as he can, instead of lowering eyes and looking for easier 30-40m targets.
This is just inexperience though and something he can work on and will improve on with more games.

Hence, my comment on the influence Ross will have on his career.
Just for clarity, can someone explain Loopy as distinct from Bomb .
