So far this season teams who have played Freo have a 3/8 win/loss record in their next game (sorry Pies you’re going to get smacked by Hawthorn this week). The three wins have been against the teams currently in 16th, 17th and 18th positions on the ladder and include narrow wins by Geelong v GC (at home) and Adelaide v Carlton. The outlier result is West Coast d Brisbane by 53 pts – but it could be argued that we didn’t put the Eagles under much pressure in the WD. They didn’t touch the ball in the 1st qtr and we shut down completely after ½ time.


Some of the bad or surprising losses which have occurred after a Freo game: Port belted at home by Sydney; Sydney lost at home v Western B’s; Western B’s thrashed by Melbourne; North blew a 39 pt ½ time lead v Collingwood ; and even Richmond looked terrible at home v West Coast.


On the flip side, teams who have played Hawthorn or Sydney have a remarkably good record at their next outing.

Amazing...So we shouldn't use our opposition as a gauge based on their next game . Hmmm haha


As it currently stands, Freo and Bulldogs have played 6 out of the possible 7 current Top 8 teams! Freo only losing once and dogs losing twice to a current top 8 team.

West Coke, hawks and Collingwood have only played 3 out of the possible 7 current Top 8 teams! Collingwood losing all 3 games, West Coast winning 1/3 and Hawks winning 2/3 games against a current top 8 team.

For the rest of the year, Freo are not in the clear. We still have 3 top 8 teams to come (Hawks, Richmond, West Coke). Also North and Port could all replace Dogs in the 8 and we have to play them again too. Nothings easy but a good indication on where sides are at and perhaps why
