have to agree
on tuesday i was driving back home from melbourne when it started to piss down from a great height,so i slowed down to what i considered was a safe enough speed, which was 80 in a 100 zone
next minute this car comes speeding past me at way over 100 and the section of road i was on....well id slow down on that particular section on a dry day,let alone a wet one in which you couldnt see more than 20 metres ahead of you

Had the same experience this morning.

It was absolutely P**sing down as i was driving to my dads house (let it be known that the sun is shining now..and what i'm talking about was only 1 1/2 hours ago) and all the traffic lights were out on the princes highway/dandenong road (same thing) and the visibility was really bad. Used my common sense and drove at about 40/50km an hour in an 80 zone, next thing you know some fool comes hooning past me doing about 100k an hour, absolute tool i reckon! I feel sorry for his family, one day he'll do it, lose control and that will be the end of it for him.

Unfortunately Mags the old adage is true, "Drive defensively", remember, you have to be ready to compensate for not only mistakes you make, but also for mistakes that anyone else around you may make.

Assume the worst when making snap judgements regarding the ability of other drivers, very often they have no idea what they are up to, so there is no hope in hell of you being able to read them.
