We really can't rate these 2 guys because they played their first year under Frawley, but I have a feeling Wallace will turn these guys into pretty handy and efficient players. Wallace did it to the Bulldogs. Romero hardly played a game at the Roos in about 5 years, but at the Dogs he turned into a very skillfull midfielder. Same with Dimatina. Hudson found great form etc. Wallace can make a player (who would struggle under any other coach) into very competitive players. I have a feeling that Morrison will be used at CHF to make short leads around Half forward and pass to Richo. He won't be a power forward, but he will fill in a role of setting up goals. Wallace gets the best out of players and I don't know any coach who does it better. Weller may get a run at CHB or even as a second option deep in the forward line. He has a strong mark and very long kick. We've only seen 80% capacity of each player who has played under Danny. I look forward to Tivendale starring next season.

yeh will be interesting to see whther he gives them a chance and if so whether they can stack up and play afl footy to the required standard.

I think Morrison showed glimpses that he can play, but didnt like the way he went to pieces mentally after the stkilda-baker fiasco..

weller i have baarely seen, only in the pre season cup, but i like the sound of trying to mould him into a key backman. we need some big bodies back there..

i think people have judged these guys to early..

new club, coaching department non existed, no proper game time, god you could go.....

these two guys could be added additions come next year...

you would imagine wallet has an idea for both of these 2 guys way before even signing that five year deal..

well they have one year two prove their worth or you could say their careers are over...

The issue with Weller is leg speed. His opponent tends to get the break on him. However, still deserves another chance, and may show something under Wallets, track record of getting the best out of blokes aka John Northey

I thought Frawley didn't give Morrison much of a go. A couple of sub standard games early in the season and he was dropped. Sought of player that needed to be perservered with, particulary given that c/h is the most difficult position on the ground. Even more difficult at Richmond, given the way we move the ball forward. Anyway, from what I saw he looked a handy type, no star, but I'd describe him as a poor man's Johnthan Brown.

I don't think they'll ever be more than just bit part players, but it would be good to see them get some consistent game time to see what they can really do, maybe in the wizard cup we will see more of them.

Anybody know what was traded for them and why Lethal let them go?
It was a draft pick for Morrison ( not sure which one ) . He actually asked to be traded , lack of opportunities , if my memory serves me correctly no trade was done and we picked him up in the national draft .

Weller we got in the PSD

We picked up Morrison in the national draft (he nominated a 2 year deal to ensure he came to Richmond as he thought it was his best option). Weller was picked up in the PSD. Leigh let them go because they were out of contract and they weren't going to get a game with all those stars there. Better for him to move players like that on and free up room for more draftees.

Neither will be stars, but provide some depth while our kids develop. Weller was given a few chances late last season and showed enough to keep him around this year, Morrison had the 2 year deal so he was assured of staying. He wasn't given much of a go by Frawley, even at times we were badly lacking KPPs through injury. He had a great game against Collingwood to start the season and was ok over the first 5 matches, but then no chances until round 19 where he got very little game time. He probably won't get a great deal of chances this year unless there are injuries, but as I said he provides some good depth as a tall, crashes the pack well in the Jon Brown mould.

His stats:

Round Date vs. K H P M HO T FF FA G B
Round 1 26/03/2004 Collingwood 11 5 16 8 0 0 2 0 0 0
Round 2 02/04/2004 Melbourne 9 0 9 6 0 1 0 0 1 0
Round 3 12/04/2004 St Kilda 8 4 12 8 0 0 1 0 1 1
Round 4 17/04/2004 Geelong 2 4 6 2 0 0 1 0 0 0
Round 5 23/04/2004 Adelaide 6 8 14 5 2 3 1 2 1 0
Round 19 08/08/2004 Geelong 2 4 6 3 1 0 0 0 0 0

I really think Morrison could end up being a good player. He certainly was given very limited chances last season.
Weller seems to be able to find the ball but needs to work a little on disposal maybe? His kicking for goal seems very effective also.
I think Wallace can make players out of those 2 boys.
Good deals for them both as well.

JOEL BOWDEN?????
You know i`m referring to Gasper

On Morrison , Something must have happened with him and Frawley because i could never understand A / what he did to get dropped so quickly and B/ why he was over looked for pretty much the rest of the year /

The stats that Jezza posted aren`t the flashest but i`m sure at the time they were not the worst either

I know mate, just messing with you.

I was disappointed that Morro wasn't given the chances, he wasn't the most skilled player out there, but I loved the way he would attack a pack, no fear of throwing himself right in there, gave crumbers a chance to get the ball. We clearly lacked key talls last year, it was just poor coaching again that saw him miss out.

Mike: Yes Weller's kicking and pace are his key concerns. His brother is available in this years draft but seems to have the same problems.

...

Weller's leg speed is surprisingly good - it may be an ungainly running style that confuses. Weller's opponent gets the break on him because his reaction time upstairs isn't at the same level. He may make a decent big-bodied winger, thumping the ball long. Only downfall there is the quality of his passing. Then again, he can be no worse than Fiona.
