with richo being moved out to chf and shulz being thrown the challenge at chb, i am surprised no one has thought of the possiblility of shane morrison at full forward. the guy kicked 8 goals in a coburg match last year so he can obviously turn it on up forward. dont remember him being given a shot up thier last year, mostly short stints at chf. this would allow simmonds/stafford to be the third tall or you could play them both out of the square.

thoughts?

could be good, his a pretty reliable set shot at goal, but i would still prefer rich at CHF, shultz a FF and Morrison at CHB. But either way its fine by me

yeah i was thinking the same, but plough says shulz at chb.

It seems as though at the moment Simmonds and Stafford will share the ruckwork and a key forward position. If one of these goes down, the other will have to do the bulk of the rucking so a replacement key forward will be needed. This is where I expect to see Morrison appear, although it would be nice to see him more as a fixture down there. If we are going for a more direct gameplan, it suits having 3 key talls in the forward line, with the likes of Brown, Krakouer and Campbell crumming.

As you've pointed out as well, he can be a useful player at CHB is Schulz is not working out.

I think it is a mistake to play Richo anywhere else but FF , his body is no longer up to running marathons out at CHF anymore .The two or three seasons preceding this one saw richo suffering almost chronic hamstring injuries and the shift to FF would almost certainly prolong his career , as it has done with many of the great CHF`s of our time , Carey the biggest example .

Plus i do not think he has the footy brain or the agility anymore to hold down CHF , IMO , it will be sooner rather than later before Wallace shifts Richo back to FF , if that is the road he goes down .

I would like to see Morrison given a bit more of a crack at CHF

Richo will at least be as valuable at FF than at CHF and he will play longer at FF, so leave him at FF :D

he is not an acurate kick. he is doing no favour close to goal. he will be more useful at chf taking marks and kiking the occasional goal. it will be great if he could bobmb the ball in long to the goalsquare where : morrison, stafford or simmonds there to take a grab. or with krak, brown or cambo crumbing off. much better than richo at ff taking massive strong marks........ then kiking them on the fool......

I don't think the kicking is as an important factor as you think. Richo being at FF will create a lot more shots than anyone else being there so the net result will be more goals. Even with his inaccuracy, he still had the 3rd highest goals per game out of the top 10 or so goal kickers for the year. He kicked 65 in 18 games, nobody else in our team could do that.

ye i get ya point there. but he cant hold the spot until he retires...... then no-body will be suited for the position wen he leaves. why not rotate him and morrison or sumbody else between hf and ff to get somebody else slowly into the possition? schultz would be more preferred to me than morrision but at least give somebody a crack at the possie.

cheers haychf! :D

haychf you're right, and I think that's what we'll see a lot of this year, plenty of other options developed. Simmonds and Stafford will spend a lot of time there, and I'd personally like to see Morro get a go. My number one choice would have been to develop Schulz there, but he is needed down back. This draft should produce some more options up forward and in defence, to free Schulz up to more forward.

schultz will be awsum in ff. he proved it thru the brizzie game!but if he isnt performing richo may have to just go to the goalsquare when needed. but i hope schultz, morrison, or simmonds will be able to play well at ff. richo can still kick some long goals from the 5o m as he loves doing! hf is the possie i wish to see him play!

haychf!

he is big boddied and seems to like the tough stuff. seen him drop a few marks which is a bit of a worry but he still has only played a handfull of senior games and could really develop if given a decent chance.

Sounds ok and he might still get bigger which would enable him to attack the ball hard.

I saw quite a few Coburg games toward the end of the season.Unfortunately Morrisson doesn't have very good hands IMO.

He's a stop gap till we can develop a new CHF. Hopefully he's delisted when his contract runs out this time next season.

who do u rekon we would develope into a chf?

dropped marks can sometimes be a lack of confidence, which was like a cancer at tigerland last year, especially for morrison with the way spud treated him (dropped from the side without any real chance given to him, on and off the bench, hell the guy kicked 8 in the 2's and was given a game in the ones but was hardly given any game time then was dropped the next week!). doubt if i would have had a lot of belief if i were in his position. hopefully when given a real opportunity and the coach instilling some belief in the boy he will improve in this area.

While I agree CHF is the best spot for Richo unfortunately his hamstrings aren't up to it and it would be a big mistake if Terry plays him there.Besides he does a great job as a Lynch style full forward.Next season with Terry as coach we'll see the ball come in alot quicker and none of this situation of richo having to wrestle 3 players.

I think it wouldn't be a bad idea to give Schulz a year at CHB in 2005.We aren't going to be a serious contender so why not let him learn the craft of being a good forward by playing on the likes of Tredrea Brown and Reiwoldt for a season.Who knows he might turn out to be a good CHB anyway. He's not unlike McPharlin in the way he plays. He just needs a good coach and self confidence that Danny never gave him.The key to it is having players settled in one position.Bowden will be next to him at hbf to help out.Hopefully Subpar will improve on his attrocious 2004 season(he couldn't get any worse could he?)

There's a pretty good chance our #4 of this years draft will be a CHf prospect be it either Roughhead or Franklin.I'm actually hoping we pick whoever's left of Tambling or Griffen and pick them and then use #12 or #16 on a CHf like Willets.

I'd play Morrisson,Simmonds with Campbell at half forward with Richo ,Krak and Browny the full forward line.Simmonds can play like Port use Mead, going into the ruck for the last 7 or 8 minutes of each quarter.

Hall can play Bench, and be a spare parts man at half back and the odd ruck duty.

.
Id go the opposite.use our 1st 4 picks on midfield types.Deledio/Griffen/Tambling/Lewis/Bates/Meyer/Eckerman.
Pickup someone like a Maric with pic #20 who can pinch hit in the Ruck and up fwd.
Fowards-Richo,Morrison,Archibald
Rck/Fwds-Simmonds,Stafford,Hall,Maric.
kpp Backs-Shultz,Gasper,Hall,
Backup,s-Moore,kellaway.
IMO it all depends on TW,s confidence in Gasper getting back to his best to the way we make our selections.
perhaps someone like a Miller[melb] or Livingston[carl] to be picked up as insurance.

cheers!
