wouldnt discount it tho Evo considering TW,s game plan back in the doggie days ;)

cheers!

If Wallace was to use any of his old methods he would rotate the goalsquare with Chaffey,Krakouer,Rodan,Campbell ect all being one out in the square at times.

Richo is a danger at chf. Particularly when he tries to create play. Inevitably he turns it over, and bang the opposition is away. Better to leave him around the goal.

Advantage of Morrison at chf is when he pushes forward he will open up the play behind him, which Richo can then lead into. But let's be honest, Morrison is unlikely to beat the good chb's.

When the acid is applied to our list, we haven't got to many players who are in the top 1 or 2 in their position

and what tall players did the dogs have back then pray-tell that you would have had him play out of the goal square?

Definitely a short term prospect at best, say maybe 6 weeks at FF max.

More reason to leave Richo at FF. Hes one of the best few G going round.

Just make sure Brown is next to him... often.
we tried this with bowden taking it from a player who marked it outside 50 and it worked for a bit, then the opposition became aware of it and were ready to take him down as soon as he took posession. would only work if you didnt do it often.

I'd think Browns record would show he is less accurate in front of goals than Richo.

edit Just checked, the records in fact are:
Richo 579-382 (60% accuracy)
Brown 232-175 (57% accuracy)

Of course, out on the fulls aren't counted here. ;)

Wallace has no idea what to do with key position players, can't recognise a good one when he sees one, and develops a game plan which invloves running the ball which makes it impossable for the forwards to lead with confidence. If he hadn't inherited Darcy, Grant and Croft he would have been doomed.

As your wisdom is so highly regarded around these parts Weaver , that instills me with ton of confidence

Wallace was there 1997-2002.

Over those years the top-10 leading goalkickers were ...

Paul Hudson (252)
Chris Grant (242)
Brad Johnson (216)
Rohan Smith (190)
Nathan Brown (167)
Luke Darcy (120)
James Cook (113)
Simon Garlick (109)
Steve Kolyniuk (71)
Nicky Winmar (68)

The only 2 guys to kick more than 50 in a season were Paul Hudson and Nathan Brown.

On that list Luke Darcy was inherited and basically plays as a ruck-rover. Chris Grant was inherited. Even James Cook was inherited.

Under Wallace ...

They traded for Simon Minton-Connell
Drafted Paul Hudson
Traded for Kingsley Hunter
Traded for Trent Bartlett
Traded for Ben Harrison
Traded for Daniel Bandy
Drafted Aaron James

He is not the messiah.

Initially i was a Rocket Eade man but warmed to Wallace when it became obvious that he was our number one target , (all faith in Miller) , emphasised by the fact that Miller would have known Eade pretty well from his north days.

Who would have been your preferred choice and why ? (as it is pretty obvious that Wallace is not your cup of tea )

miller will be handling the recruiting wont he? i would think this would aleviate the problem somewhat. i also think plough may have learned from his mistakes a bit. i respect your opinion weaver but i prefer to be optimistic. his statement that the club will not trade away a first round pick while he is coach is encouraging.

Even if Chris Judd was on the table ?

Two things , never say never , and never paint yourself into a corner .

Do agree with you on Weavers pessimism , I`m sure Mick Malthouse and Leigh Matthews made plenty of mistakes that they learnt from the first time around .

The fact is ( and Weaver points it out statistically ) Wallace took a pretty ordinary lot and got them consistently playing finals . Lets hope he has the juice now to take us all the way.

Don't get me wrong, I have no problem with Wallace. Him or Eade would have been good choices allthough I think we should have at least made the effort to look at some untired guys.

What I have a problem with the idea that Wallace is going to click his fingers and everything is OK now. I don't think coaches are that important and the difference between the good ones and bad ones is not that great. A good culture and a good playing list are far more important and hopefully Wallace can contribute on the club culture side of things.

There seems to be the idea that Wallace likes tough, accountable football and gets the best out of everyone. His teams were mostly built of light-bodied wingmen who overused the ball and his record with big blokes is poor.

I just think it is going to be a long process and a lot of pain between now and being good. I am nervous that people might get their hopes too high and find themselves turning on another guy.

could be good, his a pretty reliable set shot at goal, but i would still prefer rich at CHF, shultz a FF and Morrison at CHB. But either way its fine by me

he plays a bit like Jonathan Brown but at the Lions he was really a backup to him incase he got injured. was also seen as a good backup to Leppitsch as well so i guess he could also play down back.

Morrison should NOT be playing AFL football as he is basically just a big body with limited brains and ability (at AFL standard). While he might make a good third or fourth forward he should under no circumstances be a key target.

Morrison plays exactly like Jonathan Brown minus the skill, courage and aggression.

This guy doesn't belong in the AFL in any position and we only drafted him becuase he was playing the same position as Jonathan Brown was at Brisbane. I doubt they even saw him play.

LMFAOOOOOOOO@giving him a 2 year contract as well.
