How so? I'll get in before the "dominated 2-3 years ago when he looked great on a terrible team" post and retort with the fact he hasn't really done a thing for a few years now. Looked better last week but he's not in our best 22.

I just find it amazing the exaggerations coming to play here.
Morton did play a very good first 2 seasons so how then can he have not done anything for a "few" years now when considering his knee injury he has only played one season since??... I dont think people realise this is only his 4th season, with his 3rd ruined by his injury to his PCL and the preseason to his fourth also ruined.
The guy hasnt had a pre season for the past two years. Let him get some games together get some confidence back and see how he goes, It IS too early to write him off yet!

Was okay today, went hard at some balls depite looking shit scared

You must've missed him sheparding Leigh Brown into a couple of marks in the last quarter. Brent Grgic like effort. GTFO Morton.

Yeah, saw that and Lade was no where in sight. Piss poor defending effort.

It's bad enough when Jurrah does it in the forward line but in defense it's really ****ed. Blair shitting himself at Watts' footsteps just beat Morton though for softness.

Well they just gave us a proper fisting, so we're more soft.

I thought he played well and gave us something in the first quarter. In fact I think more players should actually provide some run as well and we might get there.

But hey each to their own. Although that crap with the Leigh Brown mark was hard to watch.

Morton looked better on the replay but in person sitting at ground level near the fence he looked lazy and refusing to engage in any contest. Copped plenty from the crowd around me for refusing to have a go and despite playing a negating role on Shaw he thought that meant when the ball came near him he didn't have to get it and simply pointed out space to teamates.

Piss poor effort from ground level. I can handle skills not up to level but refusing to have a crack and getting lost around the ground is :thumbsd:

Don't need him on the list and as we get to where we want to be he will stand out even more. Squib.

He smashed Heath Shaw (kept him 7 kicks, 8 handballs) and got plenty of the footy himself.

Haven't seen the Leigh Brown incident up close but he was actually our best player behind Sylvia. Good last week too.

Some people have jumped off his bandwagon incredibly quickly. He was excellent in 08-09, had 2010 ruined because of a serious knee injury, and is only just coming back from another setback this year.

I haven't lost faith. He's a great talent who we have to hang onto.

Shaw was simply poor. Looked even slower than normal and one of the Pies worst yesterday. Morton was on Shaw but hardly applied a hard tag with it being the main reason for the lower influence by Shaw.

We can't just use Shaw's stats to pump up Mortons game.

Dermie said on SEN yesterday that if Morton was his teammate he would smack him in the mouth, virtually said he was gutless.

I've got to say I really rate Dermie's observations. He's been spot on about Green and Jurrah too over the last few weeks. You can read between the lines that he thinks we are a fragile, sift club with no spine and I think he's right.

We should let Morton play loose in the backline for the rest of the tear to make him look good and then 'reluctantly' draft him as soon as possible.
