The AFL is not a level playing field and some clubs have tremendous advantages over others. Which clubs have the biggest advantage and which are the most disadvantaged. Things to consider are sponsorship, media attention, support, fixtures, travel, facilities, umpiring bias home ground advantage, freee agency etc. So who is at the top of the pile and who is at the bottom? Does this necessarily reflect current on field success?

So geelong is the only Vic team to put millions of their own money for their stadium...forgive me if I'm wrong but how much debt have other Vic teams gone into?
Or how much cash have any other Vic clubs put into the development of State-owned grounds?

Most teams have advantages one way or another it’s just a matter of how well they can take advantage of the advantages

Interstates have the advantages of having true home grounds that can used to great effect

Big 4 Melbourne clubs can generate a lot of off field support through sponsors and generally larger fan bases

Geelong have all the advantages of an interstate club despite being located in Victoria

But like everything you need to take the good with the bad a home ground advantage is great but travelling especially come finals time or the actual grand final can sway the game in favour to a vic club

And the big four clubs because of increased size individual players can come under increased scrutiny or the media microscope more so than other clubs

For me the most disadvantaged would be clubs like North Melbourne and the Bulldogs who don’t have the luxuries of the bigger clubs in Melbourne and could be a harder sell for free agents or the financial benefits that other Melbourne based clubs are afforded

I agree on the small Vic clubs, although I'd say Saints and North may struggle more than the Dogs now since our recent premiership has helped a lot off-field in many aspects

Definitely also the doggies being one of the teams leading the charge for the woman’s comp I would imagine has been big for the dogs off field

Geelong with their tailored rulebook written by Whateley and Hocking.
We played our home game against you at your home ground last year you entitled fool. And our home final a year early. You dont get to speak about geelong other than us being the most disadvantaged. There would be no 2017 tigers flag if we werent the most disadvantaged.
