Slightly off subject but in my mind the biggest inaccuracy by a player when it counted was Essendon's Bill Brittingham kicking 2.12 v Melbourne in the '48 GF. As a team Essendon kicked 7.27. Insane inaccuracy. Incredibly Melb won the replay.
I withraw my previous post about Bill but Essendon's insane inaccuracy stands the test of time. cheers croucher. Essendon should have won but did didn't. Should have won the replay but didn't. Footy's a funny game that's why we love it.A number of publications in recent decades have published that claim about Brittingham, so I understand why readers would believe it.
However, truth be told he kicked 2.3 that day as per list shown in The Age on the Monday after the game where a full list of players scoring behinds for Essendon is shown here in the "Snapshots" column [move viewing screen down and to right a little]:

Lance Franklin kicked 2.11 in 2007: http://afltables.com/afl/stats/games/2007/071020070826.htmlSlightly off subject but in my mind the biggest inaccuracy by a player when it counted was Essendon's Bill Brittingham kicking 2.12 v Melbourne in the '48 GF. Stuart Spencer o.11, and 0.16 over 2 weeks and nm player, from memory last name Adams 0.11 on debut.
Nm player was Tom Allen. He scored 0.11. I was wrong about Spencer. 0.18 straight over 3 games.0.16 - how is that even possible??? Seriously, you'd think after the first 10 misses you'd be looking to offload to someone else!
I was wrong about Spencer. 0.18 straight over 3 games.
Here's the reference to Tom Allen( he was actually from Richmond)

18 kicks 11 behinds and a couple marked on the line.
The argus though has Spencer as having got 0.10 from 10 shots on goal.

Eddie James is supposed to have kicked 5.16 in this game

I reckon some of those " game total " records commonly cited may not be accurate. I found a list on the net and checked only Allen, James and Spencer and 2 out of 3 did not tally with contemporary records. Just another reminder not to rely on other people's work but check the source yourself. That Geelong Advertiser article doesn't actually refer to how many behinds he kicked or how many shots he had.
This one below from The Argus does so - but "shots" does not necessarily mean he scored with every one of them,
so 5.16 may be extreme, but he was obviously inaccurate:
