There was an article this week about Jesse Hogan having played under 8 AFL coaches during his career. Would that be a record or have other players played under more? Thinking of someone like Dale Kickett who played at 5 clubs, may have played under a fair few.

Probably someone like Dan Currie would get a nomination as I think he played for something like 4 clubs so there is a good chance he played under more coaches than that.
Tom Hickey has also played for 4 clubs and if there were coaching changes while he was at any of those clubs it would drive the number higher.

That was Darius Boyd. Played 2006-18 under him for 4 club stints. Boyd stayed on at the Broncos for 2019-20 into retirement, but Bennett was sacked and went straight to the Rabbitohs. Boyd was a good player though, bit different to someone more coach-associated like a Zac Dawson.

Yes, that's correct. The 1992 coach Gary Buckenara was the coach for the first month, but after thrashings from Hawthorn, St Kilda and Essendon that took Sydney's losing sequence to 18 he was sacked. Brett Scott took over as interim coach for about 3 weeks while Ron Barassi got things in order to move from Melbourne to Sydney to take the helm of the struggling Swans, and he commenced in a game against Carlton.

Bruce Doull started his career at Carlton in 1969 and finished in 1986. By my count that means he played under: Ron Barassi, John Nicolls, Keith McKenzie, Ian Thorogood, Ian Stewart, Sergio Silvagni, Alex Jesaulenko, Percy Jones, David Parkin and Robert Walls
10 coaches at one club. What is amazing is that was arguably Carlton's most successful era with 5 premierships (and a grand final in his last year).

Bret Scott was the Swans caretaker coach for 2 games after Buckenara was sacked. (Rounds 5,6)
Richard Osborne was injured and didn't play in either of these games.
So that means he played under 10 coaches
However, there's another ex-Royboy: Ossie's teammate at Sydney who did play under 11 coaches...

Why wouldn't interim coaches count?
Should caretaker coaches who take the reins when the old coach got sacked be counted but assistants who get a game when the head coach catches COVID not count?

Few North players might get a run here if this form continues. Likes of Thomas, Taylor and Scott are 4th year players under their 3rd coach, could be 4 soon.
