Why are coaches included here?

Bomber and Ayres were never Cats.

In that case of including coaches, I'll go Hafey. Single-handedly responsible for taking Diesel, Bolton and Toohey, and they REALLY cost us big time.

Would have thought you might want to know why a captain would find the need to leave a club after his first year as captain. You are deeper than not caring if there was more to the story, surely.
Anyway, your view is certainly the majority view so don't worry about my questioning.
I believe I do know. There's no secret to it is there? krisholio14 has done a good job of summarising what I had already read/heard in mainstream media and from Colbert himself at times.

I probably didn't express myself well in that original post. I know the "reasons" I just think a stronger and better person in that situation sticks at it rather than walks away.

He was thinking of the team ahead of his individual situation, clearly??
What sort of mess would have resulted if he stayed on amidst the prevailing negativism towards him, from players AND and others, evidently?
There is no precedent for what he went through, and no recurrence either.

I am interested. Not just saying that coz I'm spoiling for a fight either. Knowing what I know, I just can't see that he was left with any other option, because the club didn't really have his back in the end.
The club, at the time, was a basketcase. As much as I wish they handled it differently too, they were incapable of it, such was the dysfunction that pervaded it through all levels, administratively as well as on-field.

I think I would see it differently had Colbert stuck At it for at least a season and showed to everyone that he had at least given it a crack. I can't buy the line that he had no other choice when he didn't even play a game as captain. Ultimately, a captain's job first and foremost is on the field on game day and he cannot say he couldn't do that job without even trying.

It will be interesting to see what love is left for Bundy. The way he exited the club and the timing were plain bad
Used to love him, pissed off as f#ck over how he left us out to dry during the trade period. Hope he lives to regret the decision as the cats win more flags and the lions stink it up

This is true, but Bomber did declare after the 09 GF that he was now more Cat than Bomber

and then did walk out on us 1 year later.... back to the Bombers

But I bet he wishes he didn't with all the shit that went on there :D

What is the punishment for false declarations?

I actually don't care that there was "more to the story" with Colbert. Aside from doing a Carey, I don't think there's much lower you can get than a captain walking out on his club in a time of need and walking straight into the reigning Premiers. I also don't give a stuff that he seems like a good bloke. I judge him on what he did to the club at the time of walking out on it.

Murphy? Meh. Yep, a complete flog but he meant nothing to the fabric of the club.

Hear hear…..quoted because I agree with every aspect of this post.

I can't believe Colbert is out polling the maggot,Murphy. Justin

As much as I despised Colbert for deserting the Cats, it does appear he had it rough with certain veteran players refusing to acknowledge him as captain, and Colbert has behaved well since he left the club.

But I will never forget or forgive Murphy for deserting the Cats on that fateful day when Milburn knocked Silvagni out. He refused to walk off with his "team mates" and thus demonstrated where his allegiances lay.

Edit: just read other posts. I am not alone!!

Murphy has got zero character - he went to court for stealing a womens purse - someone left a purse in a bank - instead of handing it in - he took the money - and just chucked the purse away - as he left the bank

However i totally disagree with you - re that day at Optus - i reckon i would have done the same thing - what Milburn did is the most gutless dog act - ive ever seen any Geelong player do - there was zero courage shown by Milburn that day

Is it wrong that at Geelong v Carlton games I wear a cats jumper with the #39 on the back just to annoy my Carlton rellies.....

No because you're honoring one of the best and most underrated of the past 10 years

You do know the significance of Dasher and the blues right?

Oh right! That day.

I thought he was part of a trade or something like what happened with Mansfield to Carlton which netted us Chapman, or something along those lines.

Here it is if Rainfall hasn't seen already

lol, didnt see that but, i've seen that video

even gary ablett for that matter
Honestly? He f*cked off for more cash. Surprised he's only got 2 votes. I remember the Colbert saga like it was yesterday. I still think what Ablett did was worse.

There's lots of shit lots of people would do for "over a million dollars" doesn't make any of that shit right.

Its wrong that Carlton supporters still remember "that" day. I can't remember what number Dean Solomon wore for Freo, and what he did to Lingy was worse
