Most Over rated Side?

If missing your All Australian center half back is a "perfect run with injuries", then whats a bad run?

Missing your CHB for 5 games or so doesn't really compare with losing the likes of Judd, Kerr and Cousins among others for large parts of the season....

I can't wait for 2008 because this Geelong team will be at the top again. Then there will be no excuses from other fans. There is no weakness in the 22 (maybe s.brynes) and we have amazing depth, with players of the likes of Hawkins, Varcoe and Prismal coming through.

WCE have always had the best ruck/rover combinations I have ever seen, however that is about all you have. WCE were 1 point away from winning no premierships in the last 3 years.

I don't know how people mention the Geelong/Collingwood prelim as a weakness. We can't win every game by 60+ points and the pies played well.

Bulldogs are always overrated, when ppl were tipping top 4 earlier this year I predicted them to miss finals
Saints always talked up as favourites and never produce
Fremantle were flag favourites at the start of this year, I tipped them to miss finals

Before we judge Geelong, lets wait until next year. No other team besides the Lions has won more than 2 recently, so if Geelong goes on to win next year there will be no arguements from oppositions fans that can talk down the Cats

-Collingwood have no backline. Will be in the 8 but will no progress further without addressing their backline or their ruck problems
-Brisbane are going to improve but not considerably. They are very blue collar except for Black and Brown
-Port? Bring em on. They overachieved this year and are still a few years away from being a contender
-Freo? Ha! enough said..
-West Coke? Their midfield was their only real strength and has been significantly weakened by Judd leaving and Cousins is past it. Cannot do anything but go backwards when you lose a player such as Judd.


As for Geelong;
-Selwood barely played a TAC game in 2006 due to injury and was extremely good in his first year and will dominate next year. He will push for All Australian
-A fit Tom Hawkins and Nathan Ablett will dominate next year, given that Mooney takes the best defender. Hawkins did not have a proper preseason this year due to injury
-G Ablett, Bartel, Corey, Johnson, Kelly, Mackie, Chapman, Stokes are not even close to their prime yet. All still have huge upside, particularly G Ablett
-Rooke barely played in '07 and is ready to dominate in '08

For me it has to be west coast, everyone especially their supporters seems to think that wce are some some sort of super team I mean for FFS you won one premiership using boring defensive slow down football in an even year and you left the finals in straight sets but wait for the excuses mainly we were injured. Even now after geelong have won the premiership by 119 pts wce supporters still claim there team is better than geelongs and would beat us despite how we beat them by 39 pts and finished 3 games higher but wait theres an excuse for that too.

WCE supporters grow up your team isnt even close to how good you think they are.

I don't think we are over-rated at all. Unfortunately we had more injuries than most clubs - certainly more than any team in the top 8 (lost over 200 games to injury). We had weeks where we could barely field a fit team - and in fact, a couple of weeks we played Burton (knee), Roo (ankle, groin, back) and Stiffy (ankle) when we shouldn't have. We are certainly not the best team in the comp, but had we not thrown a black cat through a mirror at the beginning of the season, we may have finished a little higher than we ended up finishing.

That's rubbish. We played them earlier this year with more players out than they did and thrashed them. It is simply not true that Geelong did not have injuries this year.

Chapman missed a large amount of games, Rooke missed most of the year, Harley and Johnson missed a number of games early in the year, Mooney and Nathan Ablett played with injuries all year.

West Coast have nothing on Geelong now. I look forward to playing them next year so that Geelong can thrash them again.

They had no opposition in the GF because they made it so. Geelong just monstered Port.

Exactly. When you win a Grand Final by 20 goals it is more a reflection on the ineptness on the day of the team on the losing end rather than the dominance of the team on the winning end, especially at the highest level.

Ling thrashed Kerr when we played them last. Kerr didn't even get a kick on him for a whole half.

Stop living in the past. Bartel has past Cousins and is a better player now. He is the reigning Brownlow medalist.

Glass is not even close to Scarlett. Scarlett is one of the best ever fullbacks in the league. No full back in the history of the game has been able to accumulate such a large amount of possessions and be so creative and dominant whilst keeping his opponents to such low scores. It is an insult to put Glass in the same league.

Ottens and Cox are different styled ruckman but equals in my opinion. Ottens should have been All Australian this year. Ottens' final series was brilliant and was only soured by his goalkicking..

You will need some players to step up big time and if your looking at Rosa, Priddis etc.. your kidding yourselves. Priddis had a big chance to bolster the midfield against the Pies and they got SMASHED in clearances by the 15th ranked side in that aspect of the game. No courage.
When West Coast were on top Judd and Kerr ruled the contested possessions.. Judd is gone, Kerr cops more attention = bye, bye West Coast flag chances.

Teams turn up on grand final day. Port played as good as they could in the first 10 minutes, beat us in clearancess but our defense was supreme. They're defense couldn't hold our forwards and our ball movement rivaled anything EVER seen...

You beat them by 39 points at Skilled Stadium when they were missing Cox, Embley, Fletcher and Cousins, while you guys were missing Chapman, Rooke and Harley (from your best 22). It was hardly a shallacking, and it was on your home ground.

Sydney / Adelaide / Collingwood = choke sides up as first objective then hope to get across the line in cheap low scoring games. Any football purist can appreciate what they saw the Geelong football club did on saturday, close result or not.
