Most overrated player in the AFL currently?

And the media saying he has to kick the ball more

No he doesn't, he needs to go back to his pure inside game where he dets up play with lightning handballs out of congestion

Not sure where the problem is. Oliver has been Melbourne's 2nd/3rd best player this year, and has played some quality footy, while achieving more balance in his game.

Worpel, one good season and the Hawks are blowing their loads and then Mitchell comes in and he is going at 17.5 possies, 3 clearances, 3 clangers at 64%DE and 50:50 CP & UCP. Way overated.

He is having a poor season but that is still ahead of where a lot of 3rd year players are at...

A Hawks poster elsewhere said he would take Worpel before Rayner

Commentators keep banging on about the three headed monster at Geelong...which is Tom Hawkins, Jeremy Cameron and Gary Rohan!

Umm, 1 of those is not like the others.

Commentators and the media also keep talking about Rohan as a star and lauding defenders who manage to keep him quiet.

People do realise that he is a 30 year old pick 6 who has managed 150 odd games. Or that he has accumulated 7 Brownlow votes in his entire career. Or that he has never had 25 possessions in a game. Or that he has never kicked more than 25 goals in a season despite being a permanent forward in a top 4 side.

He averages less than 10 touches over his whole career, 1 goal per game and despite his pace, doesn't even offer anything defensively (averaging less than 2 tackles at Geelong).

Last year was arguably his best ever season and he still had 4 games where he had 6 or less touches and no goals. 2 of those were finals, yet he seems to escape any sort of criticism (let alone be dropped).

Compare him to say Paul Puopolo, who was a mature age state league player that was considered a fringe player his entire career and got a game solely for his defensive effort. Yet, Puopolo got more of the ball and has so far still kicked more goals than the 'star' Gary Rohan (obviously i won't compare defensive stats cos that's unfair).

Soundly beaten today by a proppy jorneyman. NN is fat and can barely run off the square.

He has the lowest average marks of any current player with more than 40 games.
Second lowest uncontested possessions of any current player with more than 40 games.
How is that possible for such a big guy?

This is why Gawn and Grundy are better players, they move around the field, find free space and are not useless outside the centre bounce.

He's averaging two goals per game, which is elite.

He's a 30 year old, high draft pick 'star' whos played forward in top four teams his entire career that's kicked 165 career goals.

By contrast, Alex Sexton was pick 88, has played his entire career in one of the worst teams of all time, is frequently dropped and has 145 career goals, despite being 3 years younger and playing fewer games.

Guys like Jack Lonie (who no club wanted) and was nearly delisted at the end of last season had a higher goal, disposal and tackle average than Rohan, despite playing in far worse teams.

Rohan is the definition of overrated, ok season notwithstanding.
