Most sickening injury?

Which is the most sickening injury you've seen on a footy field & one which made you think, "geez...I couldn't have handled that".

For me it would have to be Vossy's broken leg at Subi in '98 followed by Jason Snell's ankle for Geelong

Vossy's broken leg for me too.

I still cringe at the thought of how it looked, and can't bring myself to watch it when on the odd occassion a picture or video footage of it surfaces.

the injury to james hird this years was the bad 1 - that was horrible

a know its not footy but the colision between steve waugh and dizzie vs sri lanka was bad too

Hird's facial injury is the most recent one that i can remember that is pretty awful.

Kristian Bardsley getting an elbow from Gary Ablett snr, wasn't too nice either, he looked liked he had a gun fired into his mouth.

for the older members of the board, i would have to go with footscrays neale sash( please correct the spelling)

he was left a paraplegic and in a wheel chair after his injury

as i said the doggy supporters know who i mean.

Pffft, Gavin Dore was only knocked out, standard concussion case, maybe a bit worse. Many a player has copped this in the field of play like Mr Dore has too. Not only that, much worse injuries have occured than a concussion. Besides Gavin Dore is a white maggot .

A lot of people don't know about or seem to forget Licuria's facial injury which was similar, quite possibly worse than Hird's.

Snell's for mine tho. Yuck.

He was taken to Hospital with a severely broken nose.

Ben Graham got 4 weeks because he was reported on video evidence.

Gavin couldn't umpire for 6 weeks.

Kellys knee injuries are shocking ..

As was Lockett elbow into Cavans face in 1994, I was cursing him and swore I hated him that day, of course things change when he put the Swans boots on


I landed on my neck much like Toia in a footy match, but I must've landed on exactly the right part of my neck.

My memory is a bit foggy, but Denis Banks' knee injury in the late 80's always sticks in my mind. I was down on one knee picking up the ball, and someone came and slid into his other knee. It bent sideways at an alarming angle.

I've always hated seeing knee injures as I've had a few myself.

Indy this year on the Gold Coast.

I seriously thought they were dead. And so did everyone else in the apartment.

I posted this on the Motor board on BF when i got home from it this year:

"Absolutely incredible.
I was in a high rise and it happened right in front of me on the straight.

It was p*ssing down and there was so much water sprayed that it was impossible to see 10 metres in front of you on track. It looked like blinding white fog on the straight. Lunacy.

Next thing I see a car airborne about 5 metres up in to the air then a game of dominos with cars plowing into eachother. A shocking accident and I seriously thought that someone would be dead as a result of it."

seeying anny knee injury is a bad sight - shaun rehn's knee injury in 1995 & 1996 was a shocker

there was also mathew robran's broken leg against the swans

also i saw a picture of the injury that athony stevens had when he copped some falling glass was horrible

Yeah Nick reminds me of this years Grand Prix. I was in a Marquee in the Grandstand on that first corner and can still remember the car flying over the other one

iv see some v8 & f1 crashes that are horifying - i was @ the 1995 oz gp (friday) and swa the crash with mika hakkinen. i was so convinced he wouldn't make it!

there was also senna crash in 1994 & the pileup in the oz gp this year

there was a v8 crash with paul radich and someone else who came together at the start of the race and both cars caut on fire

Neil Sasche's was by far the worst I have ever seen I was at the ground that day and the distress on the players faces and how quiet the crowd were left an indelible impression in my mind.

Scot Wynd convulsing at Optus Oval after being cleaned up at a centre bounce in the early '80s was pretty bad as well.

Richard Osborne was the worst knee injury. His studs got caught in the ground and the part of his leg above the knee went in a completly different direction to the part below his knee.


Cresswell banging his kneecap back in was pretty sickening.

Crap and weak. Dore is a white maggot not an AFL player, so don't expect him to cope well with being hammered by someone like Ben Graham, despite Graham's probably height and weight difference. If that happened to an AFL player, a broken nose maybe, but 6 weeks no. Dore just runs around blowing a whistle, and doesn't get into the knocks and bumps unless it is accidental.
