In our flag years we have had at least a few really good nominations for this.
Milburn
Boris
Kelly

Currently, I think Kolo. Very much the quiet achiever who seems to do his job well week after week. He is very consistent and resilient. Looking forward to his ongoing development. Our defensive 6 or 7 is superb and they function so well together week after week.

Menegola for mine, doesn’t get the attention of the Holy Trinity, or whatever it is being called, but he hits the scoreboard, tackles hard, marks beautifully, and as can be seen by his carrying on to the umpires, genuinely cares about winning games for Geelong.

Ditto.

Menegola ....hmmm. I think he adds plenty when we are playing well.
He's possibly over rated.

I'm not actually sure we have any under rated players.
Duncan is rated. There's just a couple of stars who are actually better than him.

Maybe Bews. I think he's better than the 20th picked player that many here would suggest he is.
I think his importance is under estimated.

This one may surprise. Tom Hawkins. He demonstrated on Saturday just how important he is to the club.
Internally though, including our supporters, he is highly regarded- won that poll for our MVP pre season iirc, the single player we can least afford to lose. I thought Taylor - look how that is now.

Have to agree with Kolodjashnij here. Since he’s taken on more responsibility + gone for as many marks as possible instead of spoils he’s really been a gun for us.

One mark that stands out was against Port I’m pretty sure in the last quarter 1-on-1 in the goalsquare where usually Kolo would try to just make sure his opponent doesn’t mark it by hitting it away but he backed himself and took a great mark saving a goal.

If I had to say someone different I’d say Parfitt. Had the massive breakout game against the Saints where everyone talked about him but other than that he hasn’t been mentioned externally much, but internally we know how important he is to us already, every game he’s played this year I feel he’s made a big impact with his poise with the ball as well as his great pressure and tackling without the ball.

Yet there is that stupid thread on this site...

Also agree on the Kolo call as I was one that didn't rate him at all. Very surprised but super happy he's kicked on. Don't agree on the Parfitt call purely because I don't know anyone who doesn't rate him. He's a ripper. The time he has with ball in hand is a delight to watch!

We've got a few unsung heroes at the moment - agree with Kolo , Bews and Menegola in particular. Probably add Henry and Cunico to that list as well.
I already rate Parfitt massively but Fogarty has definitely got my attention of late - his positioning is elite as is his contest work with tackling and the ability to get a hand in to disrupt a possession or knock to advantage. Really impressive kid - he will start finding the goals eventually then he'll definitely be noticed more.

I put my hand up to say I was the same. Thought he was very fortunate to hold his place at times last year. This year he's been nothing but rock solid in every area of his game.

Fogarty is the one I rate too. Big chance of becoming elite. Doing everything right and makes a difference when he's out there which I am sure many don't see.

I suspect it may be Blitz ... he has already won a B&F and plenty still do not see him in our best 22.
That is criminally underrated.

This is a surprise but Jordan Murdoch gets very hard done by our fans and externally. Hard tackler, great run and carry- yes can be down (like everyone else) but it's much harsher for him. Solid player who is made out to be the Ty Vickery or Zac Dawson of Geelong- basically our version of Polec who's running is very important for Port

Funny you mention Polec. I thought exactly that watching them beat Port. Same number, similar players, similar s & w.
And I agree about Murdoch, harshly maligned, along with Stanley and Parsons. And C Guthrie. Reading comments about some of our players often sounds almost personal. Unnecessary.
