Goodes is no good in defense, I am sure even the Sydney posters would agree with me on that.
Nah.

Goodes was great for us in defence (playing the Sam Fisher role) after we lost Dunks and Schauble went down injured, it's a pity we haven't seen more of him there.

2002-03 our deficiency was in the ruck.
2005-07 our deficiency was in the midfield
2008-10 our deficiency has been forward.
Goodesy filled/fills those voids.

In 2004 (and a few games in 03), Goodes was our defensive general & he did it very well.

In the past Goodes, right now Goddard by long way. Iv'e said it before, he would be first or second picked in every team in the comp.

1. Goodes - Considering he has played key forward/midfielder/ruckman and has shown brilliance in all three roles at some point in his career.
2. Goddard
3. Pavlich

I know i'm a bit biased, but i thought i should add someone to your list. Luke Hodge. Can play as a key defender or on a small forward and dominate the entire back line as shown in '08. Can play in the ruck as he did this year for periods of games, and can pinch hit, but i suppose anyone can, although he can't play as a ruckmen for an entire game. Can play as a premier midfielder, and can also go forward and kick goals, although he is more of a kick a goal at a crucial moment sort of guy, not kick a bag of 4 or 5 person. But why would you play him as a key forward when you have Buddy and Roughy.

Clearly between Goodes and Pavlich, Goddard cannot play key position forward or back which counts for a lot in a versatility contest. Here is my order.

1. Pavlich can dominate on every position on the ground bar ruck.
2. Goodes dominates forward mid and can ruck but has no place in defence.
3. Goddard can play all over, cannot ruck, an excellent midfielder forward and backman but cannot play Key position defence like pavlich and I would like to see him as a first choice forward without riewoldt before I believe he could match Pavlich in that role.

Goodes has been fantastic in defence whenever he's played there. Reads the ball beautifully and rebounds like a mo fo. He'd be a champion CHB if we needed him there.
