The team at the moment is lacking a bit of motivation and passion. Here are a few soloutions. Before the match play that version of the Grand Old Flag on the Every Heart Beats True CD. It's spine tingling stuff hearing the past players speak on that. Another suggestion is to play the song they play on Dee TV, "We can't be beaten". I love that song I feel so fired up after it. If they hear that then they may believe THEY CAN"T BE BEATEN. If the Club would like these two songs I will be very happy to lend them to them before any match.

dees01 i completely agree... we lack in motivation.
I like your ideas and here are some more:

- before we play Carlton they should watch the last quarter of the finals

- each player should bring his own favorite song and listen to it before the game as well as listening together to the above suggestions (Robbo i can get you a copy of "Higher" ;))

- if each person here wrote a letter to their favorite player or even a poem (*cough* *cough* NICKI!), i'm sure the players will read it and will draw inspiration from it, you'll be surprised how much it helps

- if a player is going into a game with a milestone, that player should talk to the rest of the players because milestones are just not rated highly enough in the club

- and to my last and most important point, the team should get a physicologist/ motivational talker to talk to the players throughtout the week as well as before and after a game. It seems as though the only people talking to them are the coaching staff which is all good, but as Robbo said on DeeTV, They are only human and they need a break, talking to them like people rather than footy players before a game might just be the key to get them motivated and ready for the game.

well thats all from me..... if only they actually read it!

i was thinking ( ) and this is what i came up with:

its a weekly plan for the players.

Monday- recovery with motivational music at the back

Tuesday- watch different motivational movies (like Brissy did... if they bleed they can be beaten and so on)

Wednesday- the team gets together and have a meeting where they discuss latest form, issues off and on field and where they decide how they will approach the game on the weekend as well as choosing more music and videos

Thursday- each player takes time to themselves and gets himself ready, this includes the option of talking to the team phsycologist (the one they will get soon ;))

Weekend- the morning before the game the team sits down and have a yoga/meditation session
in the rooms before the game the players must each read a fan letter while there is music playing at the background.
when the team comes out on the ground for a warm-up there is a theme song like "we can't be beaten" playing in the background (players may sing along :D)
half time when the players are taking showers (*SLAP*) again there is motivational music playing in the background
after the game there is an adress by the coach and the captain (just for u Nicki)

In addition every training session should be accompanied by music (like Essendon do)
The change rooms (especially MCG ones) must have motivational stuff all around it, like posters, sayings etc etc

Well thats what i think they should do, even if it makes a little bit of a difference, something is better than nothing!

GO DEES! :)

well this is what i think.........

yeah but every player has a different way of motivating himself, so that wont work. some players might think that music in the background as offputting, therefore they wouldnt be able to concentrate. Then if u wanna place a strong emphasis on motivation music, u have to work out what exactly could be used as motivation music, cos for each person it would be different. for one it could be heavy metal, or classical, or dance music, or something different again. so that would have to be the personal preference of the player.

Again with meditation and yoga and other, it wont work with all of them. i mean seriously, i cant see some players doing yoga and meditating. and some players wouldnt be able to do it anyway.

the messages and that on the wall, are all over the change rooms at Junction Oval. motivational posters, and what their roles, are at the club and what is expected of them. As for their rooms at the G. they do have signs and that, BUT they arent up all the time cos other teams use their changerooms as well, so they have to take them down for the others.

their r a list of 5 main goals that the players have set and they review a couple of times during the year, and they r:

SELF DISCIPLINE
HONESTY
SELFLESSNESS
RESPECTFUL
COMPETITIVENESS / RELENTLESS

somehow i think it is time for these to be reviewed.

Why hasn't Essendon needed motivation this year.....

and North the prior year and so on........this is what we have to look at......the club's culture!! How do we fix the problem.???

Having the right coach at the helm and the right people in the coaching ranks and admin. would be a HUGE START!!!

and A PHYSCOLOGIST ALSO!!!!!!!

yay!!!

i don't have any idea's of my own that haven't been said, but i think all of them are great!

also, i think that this kind of stuff is ssooooo much better than giving the team sh!t about their performance. well done people!

GO DEES!!!
