The iconic Suzuka 8 Hours race is on this weekend. Australia has a few riders racing with Josh Waters being the best chance of Success. He finished runner-up last year and rides with the same Yoshimura Suzuki team as last year alongside Nobuatsu Aoki and Leon Camier. Other Aussies involved include Wayne Maxwell and Jamie Stauffer in the Sakurai Honda Team and also Cam Donald and Jason O'Halloran are riding (alongside John McPint) for the TT Legends World Endurance team and Damo Cudlin is riding for the Motorrad France 99 Team on a BMW S1000RR.
Hopefully Josh can go one better this year and earn himself the good ride on the world stage next year that he so craves (and deserves). But he is up against some tough opposition. The likes of the FCC Honda team with Johnny Rea, Tady Okada and Akiyoshi will be considered favourites with other strong teams such as the Monster Yamaha team of Nori Haga, Tommy Hill and Nakasuga and the Suzuki Endurance Racing Team of Dehalle, Phillipe and Kagayama. Personally, (apart from Waters), I'm barracking for the Dog House Team of Higuchi and Iwatani - clearly they've lied to their wives for the weekend!
