Welcome to the first edition of The Predator Report for season 2016.
Predator Racing would like to announce
11kjcxj.jpg

Will be joining us as the new Team Principal.
Edmon has a background in finance and has been an avid motorsport enthusiast.
Having been successful in his ventures with the business sector, He has been able to dedicate the time and resources to living out a life long dream of managing a Racing Team.
Although his appointment has come as a shock to many in the racing world, with little actual experience.
Chairman Darren Luff has given his full backing to Edmon and believes his keen financial expertise will benefit the struggling Predator outfit.
"Edmon's shown great results through his financial investments and being smarter with our limited budget is something we need to add to our team in a bad way. Extracting the most out of every cent we have will be key to us being able to move forward. This season is a trial by fire. We aren't expected to do great things, but if we can get some results and improve our bottom line. I'd say appointing Edmon was the smartest move for our business."

ifz9n7.jpg

Arguably, It was going to be tough for any new Team Principal stepping into Predator racing.
We rank last in all areas of the competition and have the smallest budget available for season 2016.
We wish Edmon Reeves all the best in his first season and hope some good results follow to help us get off the ground.

Lets take a closer look at the Driver line-up for Predator Racing in 2016.

256907l.jpg

Santa Ana is a new Driver for 2016.
Scouted as a below average driver coming into this season. Innes does have the potential to grow and match it with some of the better drivers in the league. She's signed on for 3 years at $167.000 a race. making her the highest paid person in Predator racing.

szzr7p.jpg

Evans has been with Predator Racing since it's conception in 2008. Joining the team as a 19-year-old.
Evans has yet to taste champagne, having struggled to get onto the podium in his 8 years with the team.
Not being able to live up to his potential, Evans is touted as one of the worst drivers in the league currently.
With 2 years to run on his current contract at $46,000 a race. Evans is likely to stick around until his time runs out purely based on his salary being cheap.

2dwbdi.jpg

Linares also joins Predator Racing as a fresh face in 2016.
Signed on for just one season, Linares will likely be shown the door once her contract expires.
With no potential to speak of and a skill set that could see her fail to operate a shopping trolley. It's hard to see how she got a drive with the team in the first place. Wwith a salary of $44,000 a race, Linares is definitely punching above her ability as a backup Driver.

Edmon Reeves is looking at a very tough initiation this year.
Predator racing is fielding the worst car in the series and by a long way.
Inside news is already reporting that the team is working on a new engine at a cost of $1,550,000.00 ahead of the first race.
The team is already in the red before the season has even started.
With only 2 sponsors on board heading towards round 1. The team will be hoping for their remaining 4 spots to be filled quickly to help bring in more revenue for the team going forward.

UK|SN sat down with Edmon Reeves for a quick interview.

Thanks for joining us Edmon. Well, You've certainly picked a tough task for your first job! Are you expecting to pick up many points at all this season?

"Thanks for having me. There's no denying we are going to have our hands full this season. We've been tipped to finish 19th and 20th in the driver championship and dead last for the team championship. Look, I can't see us winning any races this season but we'll be pushing as hard as we can to get up around that top 10 spot"

Ines Santa Ana is seen by the fans as your top driver. Do you agree with that, or would say that William Evans is better?

"Ines is definitely the better driver of the two, but she isn't exactly up there in terms of the rest of the competition. She has some time ahead of her to keep developing and we will see closer to the end of her contract just how much she has improved. Evans will help keep our costs down, but we aren't expecting much from him."

In the UKSN season preview, I wrote that you're expected to finish 10th in the Team's Championship. Is that accurate, or do you think that you can do better?

"I hate to disappoint the fans, but that seems realistic to me. We have to be honest and admit that we're going to have a tough year. That's not to say that we've accepted that position. We will be trying our best not to finish last."

Your financial skills aren't in doubt, but some pundits are sceptical about whether or not you belong in the world of motorsport. What would you say to them?

"I understand their concerns, but I've been a motorsport fan since I was a child. I might not have the hands on experience, but I'm not lost when it comes to knowing how the system works. Finances are a huge part of a successful team and I'm confident I can't turn around or financial standpoint and make this team enviable by the rest of the competition."

Thanks for your time Edmon and we look forward to watching your first race.

Good news coming out Predator Racing Group office this morning.
2 new sponsors have signed on to support the team as we sneak closer to round 1.

2mz9ikz.jpg

PEACH-PLUM has put pen to paper to offer support for 9 races this season.
The deal, worth $350,000 per race (3.15M total) has helped lift the team Income per race to $988,000.
A great signing for Predator Racing Group.

ljui9.jpg

WAN CHAI has signed on as a race bonus sponsor for 8 races this season.
The Deal gave Predator Racing Group an upfront payment of $750,000.
An Added bonus of $450,000 (per race) is on offer should the team believe they can finish 9th or higher during a race.
A good incentive for the team to push for better results.

The First round of the European Racing Series is at Black Sea.
Teams will get to visit this location twice during the season with the final race of series also being held at this track.
Round 1 however, Is using track layout F (marked out in red)

There is little opportunity for top speed and most teams will be looking for good acceleration and trying to take advantage down the back straight.

The European Racing Series doesn't use a qualifying round to determine grid positions.
After the first race, The race grid is made up on the reverse standing positions on the current standings leaderboard.
A Practice session will be run on Friday, with the main race held on Sunday.

The First practice session for the opening round was completed earlier today.
Predator Racing Group brought up the rear of the timesheet, a long way off the pace set by Garuda Racing.

291c3t2.jpg

Edmon Reeves was not concerned with his driver's pace when confronted by the press at the close of the practice session.
"We knew coming into this season where our position lies. Sure, the pace isn't there right now, but we are making progress at our HQ that will allow us to be more competitive. It's not going to happen overnight, Fans just need to be patient. We have a goal to try and finish 16th or better as part of our current sponsorship deal and that's what we're focusing on this weekend."

William Evans starts from Pole
Ines Santa Ana starts from 12th

Evans time at the front of the pack was short-lived.
The 27-year-old found himself swallowed up in the opening lap to drop to 5th and by lap 5 had found himself bringing up the rear of the field.
Santa Ana didn't have a great start either. Bogged down in the middle of the pack, she too found herself at the tail end of the field by lap 5 also.
Battling it out with Aaron Rogers from Archer Motorsport for 18th spot.

Disaster striking for Predator Group Racing on lap 7.
Santa Ana was heard complaining on the team radio about her tires, only to crash moments later in the final corner before the back straight.
Unable to stop she ploughed straight on, into the barricade and the safety car was scrambled.

Contact between Sabado (Firebird MRT) and Dreyfuss (Octane Racing) resulted in both cars breaking sections of their wings.
This allowed Evans to sneak up and snatch 17th position on lap 11.

Evans was heard on team radio complaining about his gearbox and rear wing issues as the race hit lap 21.
Edmon Reeves looked deep in thought as what to do, with Evans currently in 16th position. Matching their sponsor's bonus objective.
In his final stop, Reeves decided not to repair the car and Evans was sent out with just fuel and tires. The move looked as if it would pay off, but Evans struggled to get the most out of the car and dropped back to 18th as the checkered flag dropped on the first race of the season.

Garuda Racing too good for the rest of the competition picked up the one-two win and look like the team to beat winning comfortably in the end.

Some more good new coming out of Predator Group Racing today.
Edmon Reeves has managed to secure their final fixed payment sponsor spot on their car.

zkshmv.jpg

Maxwells has signed on for 6 races in a deal that will bring $900,000 to the team at the close of the contract.

Edmon Reeves pleased to have all spots filled.
"It's great for a small outfit such as ours to get all the fixed payment sponsor spots filled. Right now we're getting around $700,000 each race from our sponsors. We can't thank them enough for their support. With the right key investments, we can lift the car's performance and our facilities to make us more competitive faster."

Round 2 of the European Racing Series has us travelling to Germany.
Teams will be racing the Munich GP using track layout B.

dn2ipz.jpg

The 29 lap race is set to be tailored to those teams who have the best gearbox and suspension components.
The 4.96km circuit only has a short front straight and most of the teams will be working on accelerating out of the slow corners to get around the quickest.
There is an opportunity for the teams with the better suspension to take advantage of the two medium speed corners either side of the straight to maximise top speed and pick off cars down the straight.

Edmon Reeves spoke about his chances of a better finish at Munich GP
"It's still going to be tough for us out there again this round. We'll be hoping Ines doesn't have a repeat performance by crashing out and we can keep both cars out on track to the checkered flag. Our aim, Is to finish 16th or better. We are almost at the end of a contractual agreement and we'd love to satisfy their expected result and pick up a bonus for the team."

Garuda Racings Jha topped the time sheet in practice but was closely followed by Vexala Motorsports Antonov.
Ines Santa Ana was able to get Predator Racing Groups name off the bottom of the chart finishing 17th in practice.

291c3t2.jpg

Edmon Reeves answering question post practice.

William Evans sat out of practice again leaving Katie to run in his place. What's the reasoning behind that?
"Katie provides us with better feedback on the car than William does. Allowing Katie to run our practice sessions only aids the set up of the vehicle and gives William the best opportunity to perform at his best."

Santa Ana got up to 17th on the time sheet. Have you made some gains in your car development?
"We have, Ines is running a new gearbox and that seems to have aided us a bit here. It's early days but hopefully we're going in the right direction."

Ines Santa Ana from Pole
William Evans starts in 3rd

Wet start to the race with all drivers out on the starting grid on Inters.

William Evans is terrible in the wet and immediately began losing positions from the outset of the race.
Santa Ana tried her best to remain the race leader but succumb to the pressure of Marchetta ( Octane Racing ) who took the lead halfway through lap 2.

William Evans got caught up with Cavalcanti (Silva Racing) with both drivers taking damage. Evan's lost part of his front wing forcing him to come into the pits on lap 3. Cavalcanti was put under investigation by the race stewards over the incident. The stewards finding no fault worthy of a penalty for Cavalcanti. Evans worse off after incident, as he had to limp around a full lap before being able to have the wing addressed.

Chu (Dragon Team Racing) Ran out of road at turn 3 and beached his car on lap 7. All teams waiting for race control to issue the safety car but it was deemed he was far enough offline that it was just a yellow in sector one.

The track dried out on lap 15 and after everyone was back out on slicks Santa Ana had dropped down to 15th while Evans was trundling around in 19th already lapped by the race leaders.

Santa Ana began complaining on team radio with 9 laps to go about a couple of parts that were causing issues. With one stop left before the end of the race, Edmon Reeves was put in another difficult spot of making a tough call on repairs. Edmon Reeves rolling the dice with Santa Ana's car and didn't repair the troublesome parts. Coming out in 17th place at her final stop 10 seconds behind 16th placed Vaanaen (Vexala Motorsport) it looked as though Predator Group Racing would fail to reach their sponsor goals for the second race in a row.
The gamble back fired on Edmon Reeves as Santa Ana's gearbox began to fail on the same lap she left the pits on and was forced to return for repairs.

A poor finish to the race for Predator Group Racing as they finish 19th and 18th.

29qgtgg.jpg

Firebird MRT driver Andre Sabado took race honours ahead of his team mate Jean-Pierre Gerard with Garuda Racings Beachamp picking up 3rd place.

Victor Keller for UKSN reporting post race.
I'm here with Edmon Reeves team principal of Predator Group Racing.

Edmon, With the progress it looked like your team hade made in practice, It didn't seem to show through in the race. What happened?
"
Well, the conditions were different to start with. We hadn't had any wet weather testing here prior to this race and weren't sure how that would transition to the car. I thought we were going okay, It wasn't until we started getting reliability issues with parts that took away a decent result."

You mentioned reliability as an issue. This is the second race now you've struggled to get a car to the end without failing parts. How do you contend with that moving forward?
"We're only a small team. Our mechanics are wearing the brunt of the work and we don't have the facility or personnel to be able to fully repair the car in time for each race. We are working as hard as we can to get the best car on the track, but at this stage, I don't see the problem getting any better just yet. We are making ground each week. I hope, that before the halfway mark we will have the strongest car out there capable of finishing races."

William Evans really struggled out there in the wet. Does he have a problem?
William isn't the strongest driver when it comes to wet weather racing. We feel he is a little conservative and backs off a bit too much. He's not a great driver at reacting to changing conditions and for some reason, Wet weather seems to spook him and take him out of his comfort zone. I don't think it's something we can fix. We just have to keep pressing on and hope we have as little wet weather racing as possible, for now."

Thanks for your time Edmon.
Round 3 of the European Racing Series kicks off at the Milan circuit in Italy on the 12th of May. Be sure to join us for all the racing news.

The Team Championship has Garuda Racing stepping out to a 15 point lead against Firebird MRT.
With a race win each, we could be looking at our championship battle for top honours right here. Eastwood Motorsport proving to be consistent finishers though, equal 2nd. They may have something to say about that as the season moves forward.

The Global Motorsport Association is getting together to vote on the first possible change to the competition for the 2017 season.
The first vote will decide on a possible track replacement.

Milan (track layout B), Which is currently scheduled for round 9 of the championship. Is being proposed to be removed and a race in Dubai using circuit layout D proposed to take its place.

2jcsio4.jpg

The Dubai circuit is a challenging one. With intricate tight corners, medium speeds and two long straights. It doesn't really show favour to any one particular strength. Teams that are building their cars to be solid all-rounders could look to find this track favourable for good performances.
Of the 10 team principals, No one has shown a clear view of how they choose to vote, keeping their cards close to their chest.
Edmon Reeves however, had this to say shortly before the Teams went behind closed doors.

"I'm starting to like the idea. We race at Milan twice during the season along with Munich and the Black Sea. This track doesn't really favour us in terms of getting a result, but anytime we can expand our series and race at new circuits. I think we should explore that option."

After 20 minutes of deliberation and each team putting forward their vote. The result was passed onto the media.

jrqo1t.jpg

6 votes against to 3 votes for. with 1 vote abstained (did not cast a vote)

Garuda Racing, Firebird MRT, Eastwood Motorsport, Vexala Motorsport, Silva Racing and Dragon Race Team China all voting against the move. ZRT Autosport chose not to vote. whilst Predator Group Racing, Archer BMR and Octane Racing supported the move.

Octane Racing team principal J.Wagner disappointed with the result.
"We were hoping for a little more support. Dragon Race Team China voting against the circuit was disappointing. We thought, like us the track may have suited them but they obviously thought different. Guess we just have to get used to familiar scenery for a little while longer."

There is another GMA meeting scheduled in 8 weeks time.
That vote will be in relation to adding a randomised grid for Sunday's race instead of a reverse system currently in use.
Teams will have some time to weigh up the pro's and the con's.
For now, attention turns to Milan for round 3.

Round 3 of the European Racing Series takes us to Milan.
Utilising track layout A this circuit is built for top speed.

20iylqc.jpg

The two very sharp chicanes are the only obstacle in a track where the top end teams can unleash their full potential.
The back straight will provide the need for speed and a lot of overtaking will be possible down the run.
This week's event will feature a 21 lap race.
Teams will have the use of Soft and Medium compound tires.
Fuel efficiency and managing your tires will be high on the agenda, With the quickness between laps Teams will want to avoid unnecessary trips down pit lane.

Predator Group Racing are going to find this race extremely difficult with their lack of pace.

Tanvir Jha showed Garuda Racing had the pace as he took line honours in practice just 0.580 seconds ahead of Eastwood Motorsports Sergio Arbeloa
Ines Santa Ana
(Predator Group Racing) didn't do too badly running the practice session on Medium compound tires to be just 3.5 seconds off the pace. She finished in relative touch with 12th position and hopefully give Predator Group Racing of a decent finish should they get their race strategy right.

Edmon Reeves took questions post practice

Santa Ana seemed more competitive during this practice session. You're in touch with 6 other cars in terms of pace. Are you hopeful of a better outcome this weekend?
"
We would like to hope so. We think we can get the job done with just 2 stops. We don't have the have the best tire performance so we will have to rely on the medium compound tires to see us through. Hopefully, we don't give up too much time that a 3 stop strategy works out better. We just have to wait and see."

Part reliability has been a problem for you in the last 2 rounds. Is it going to cause a concern this weekend for you?
"Yeah, It will play a part. We're lagging behind in getting the cars into top shape. We're working hard to improve that but it's going to take time still."

Ines Santa Ana starts from pole
William Evans starts from 2nd

Santa Ana got off the line well, with Evans holding onto second spot.
Evans tried his best to hold up the pack to allow Santa Ana to get away but the time the first lap was completed Evans had dropped to 4th.

Come lap 4, Santa Ana had given up the lead and dropped back to 3rd. Aaron Roger (Archer BMR) missed the first chicane on lap 5 and fired straight off. The safety car was scrambled and the pit lane came alive with activity.
Predator Group Racing ran a great stop for Santa Ana and she was able to come back out in 2nd.

With the pack now compressed, Santa Ana was immediately under pressure. Predator Group Racings lack of pace showed through as Santa Ana dropped back to 7th before the lap was completed. Williams Evans found himself in a familiar spot back in 19th bringing up the rear.

By Lap 11 both Predator Group Racing drivers were trailing at the back of the field. William Evans complained about his brake pressure on lap 12.
Edmon Reeves bringing him into the pits for repairs and his final stop of the race. Santa Ana, with a great pit stop on lap 14 managed to jump 2 spots and put the team into 16th position and on track for a sponsor bonus, should they hold their spot.
An error with fuel was going to ruin Santa Ana's finish as the team realised they are a lap short and had to go into fuel saving mode ruining their pace. Santa Ana running down to just an oily rag limped across the finish line hanging onto 17th spot. In a race the Pit crew will have to wear after giving away 16th spot.
William Evans going a lap down taking 19th spot.

Garuda Racings J.Beauchamp took out the race win 10 seconds ahead of Silva Racing driver E.Melo
Eastwood Motorsports S.Arbeloa
taking out 3rd to finish the podium.

Carlota Marquez reporting for JTV SPORT.
I'm here with Predator Group Racing team principal Edmon Reeves.

Edmon. That was a testing race for Santa Ana. What went wrong out there?

"I have to take full responsibility for that result. We made an error with the required fuel amount on the last pit spot and effectively shut her race down. We needed an extra lap of fuel and Santa Ana was forced to limp the car around just to make it home. She was well positioned for 16th but we gave that spot away."

William Evans poor race results continue. finishing effectively last in every round so far. Are you happy with his performance?
"It's not that simple to answer as the car is contributing a lot to our finishing position also, but He has had poor results and his lack of pace and determination is something we are starting to question. He needs to be doing better if he wants to keep racing for us."

Does that mean you're looking at a replacement driver this season if his form doesn't improve?
"We have a scouting program that continues to search for racing talent. At the end of the day, you have to put the best driver you can afford in the car. That's not saying we are looking to remove Evans from his seat. We've been in discussions with him and he fully understands If he can't improve, then we are going to need to look elsewhere. He's been around long enough now to know how important that is."

Thanks for your time Edmon.

The second GMA meeting was held toda.y. Team Principals were voting on making the Sunday race grid a "Radom Lottery" in which every team has a chance to start in pole.

At the moment the current system in place is a reverse championship position grid. meaning the driver with the least points would start on pole all the way up to the championship leader starting in 20th.

In a very close decision the proposed rule change was ACCEPTED 6 votes to 5.

Garuda Racing, Eastwood Motorsport, Silva Racing, Octane Racing, Archer BMR and Predator Racing Group all voting for the proposal.
of those who didn't
Firebird MRT, Vexala Motorsport, Dragon Race Team China and ZRT Autosport. ZRT Autosport using 2 votes to vote against after choosing not to participate in the first vote of the year. However, it wasn't enough to stop the proposal.

Predator Group Racing team principal Edmon Reeves spoke briefly after the vote. here's what he had to say.
"It's a good decision long term. It's not going to help us much next season, but as we develop the car and get faster. It will hopefully give us better grid positions rather than having to start out from the back of the pack once we start getting consistent points. It should liven things up a bit."

Round 4 of the European Racing Championship will be held at the Tondela Circuit.
This round will use the track layout B and feature a 32 lap race.

zlyrza.jpg

The circuit is quite balanced, but teams with better suspension may be able to maximise their advantage on the back stretch by negotiating the shallow S curve at a higher speed. Teams with good fuel economy and tire will also be favoured here with an opportunity of a 2 stop race should you be able to make a 10 lap stint pan out.
It will be a difficult race for Predator Racing Group who are one of the worst teams in that area.
