Leading Goalkicker - Okeydoke7 (62 goals)
Okeydoke7 capped off a stellar season, with 62 goals and 48 behinds. The return was high considering the team languishing on the bottom of the ladder. Okey would have kicked more if not for a fadeout in the second half of the season. In the first 11 rounds, okey kicked 38 goals 20. However, the last 10 rounds produced just 24 goals 25. Okey finished 35 goals clear of second placed EBIAC.
Best defender award - Cooney
AND
Best first year player - Cooney
Cooney also had a remarkable season for the Demons, with eager activity from round 3. He became a member of the core group of the Demons very quickly, and was soon installed in the leadership group. Cooney's ability to play key position full back in the team that concedes the most point was admired by his teammates. Although he does not get the recognition he deserves league-wide, he is held in respect by his teammates. Cooney was never in doubt for the best first year player award, stepping in since round 3 and having an amazing season.
Deestroy medal - Best and Fairest - TigerGlory.
TigerGlory capped off a consistant year from the midfield with a runaway best and fairest win. Okeydoke7 gained an early lead before he was quickly taken over by TG. In a humorous moment, Okeydoke7's 7 goal performance was ignored in the votes, before the mistake was cleared up. the subsequent changing of votes robbed TG of a vote, and it looked like that vote could be pivotal as Roughie charged home. It looked like the Best and Fairest would be a two horse race between EBIAC and TG when Okey's form slump set in and TFLUA Tiger was moved from the ruck. However, Roughie's late charge saw him snare second, and TG's consistancy saw him sure up the award. The top 5 are as follows with votes:
51. TigerGlory
46. Roughie
38. EddieBettsIsAChamp
32. okeydoke7
29. TFLUA-Tiger
So that wraps up a year that was dissapointing for the Demons, but again gives them hope leading into 2010. The new young players have a lot to look forward to.
