Did Dimma move Chaplin forward to man up their spare tall?

First move was for Jacko to defend Westoff. Worked well.
Then the offensive move was to switch Chaplin as his height wasn't required down back...and stretched the Port defence.
And worked a treat as we all saw.

Great match day coaching!!!!

chappy to his credit slotted 2 important goals today. thats where the praise ends. Cos port were so small so unbelievebly quick and were playing fast break football at break neck speed chappy was a liability down back just as much as he was down forward.

When port took off from defense they knew exactly where it was going before it went there. And that was long to the wing to the advantage of chappys man who was sprinting away into enormous space. port opened us up massivelu for almost all their goals from the backline. It was a great win considering how easy alot of their goals were.

this post just made me feel like we didn't deserve the win..............poor form from a mod.

What? You couldn't have been there!

Chaplin destroyed Westof when Westof was forward. He seriously destroyed him. So much so that Hinkley was forced to take Westof out of the forward line and try to get a kick playing loose in the backline. Hardwick was all over that and countered perfectly. and Chaplin delivered.

Everyone make this their avatar to pee off Poort fans some more

Port Adelaide fans are offended about Chaplin tugging the jumper. They seem to forget Matt White tugged his jumper in just his first match for Port Adelaide. It is amusing reading the posts on their board from some of their feral supporters calling him a campaigner. Glad Chappy stuck it up 'em with two goals and his goal celebrations.

Playing Chaplin forward is a handy option to have up our sleeve if we need to try something different.

A master stroke by DH, let's see him holster this weapon and unleash this WMD when the opposing coach least expects it. The McGuanne experiment worked on a few occasions in five minute bursts.

For now it's back to the back line for him and next time we play port I want to see Hardwick name him at FF just to piss the port fans off :D

They obviously miss him.

Oh god I haven't seen so many of the same avatar since the James Hird gif of smugness...

Port's ability to break the lines out of the back half was a real problem. They were quick, and if they got their hands on the ball they would bolt forward with a very quick spread that we could not counter. It appeared to be a plan to start these counter attacks by Westhoff intercepting the long bomb into our forward 50. When Chaplin went forward, it appeared to be a match up that Hinkley had to counter. Westhoff had to be accountable, but I didn't see Westhoff on Chaplin for long. I can't recall who was on Chaplin for 20 minutes, but it was not Westhoff. That was a bad mistake for Port and a very good move by Dimma. Leaving Westhoff back and relying on fast spread through the midfield was supposed to work all day for Port. It backfired.

Credit where credit is due - Dimma made a great move and Chaplin responded.

Whether it is a one off or not, it is atleast nice to see Dimma try something different and it came off which is even better.

I used to get so pissed off when we were all over Carlton and they would swing Henderson fwd and Waite back or similar moves like this that would help swing the game.

We never pull the swingman trick, maybe because we dont have one of note, but now we do and this should be a weapon we use on more occasions.
