I was of the belief they were making the announcements of successful applicants this week.
WFL made an annoucement on WIN News tonight of the new Umpires Director of Coaching. Didn't quite catch the guys name, Anthony Croke, or similar. Would think it will be in Friday's Mailtimes. From what I hear he is a former North Central Umpire and former coach of Nhill Football Club. Also heard he was a current or former workmate and buddy of John Smith - jobs for the boys! No word yet on the Umpire Manager position.

The commision is saying they need eight umpires to get started - two for each senior match I guess. That will not be enough to cover injuries and unavailabilities, not to mention the Under 17's and Reserves. Sounds as if the clubs will have to supply all umpires including goal and boundary for all grades except centrals in Seniors.

Sounds like there may be a few more marching out the door from the Saints. Can anybody confirm this?

Does not seem to be the case from What I have heard. Alot of the players are still on board with a group of kids coming up from the U/17..plus M.Ward has been back trainging for the past week or so..

They've lost a few players though. B Couch, H Kelm, G Kelm, Hoe, S Brown, J Boehm, S Gabbe, C Tucker, M Smith. Some quality senior players amongst those names that will take some replacing...

Do you really think the burras have improved that much? Did they even make finals last year? Big jump if they didn't!!!

No didnt make finals but were unlucky losing 6 games by under 2 goals - incl Horsham. Have only lost L Clark at this stage and have picked up: T Delahunty, J Ruwoldt, Z Cross, A Brown, M Smith, J Murphy, B Ison, C Walsh plus return of J Delahunty and D Smith. All quality senior players.

Have been training 3 nights a week since the start of the year with good numbers on track. Coach Arnold doing a great job. Would think are a very good chance of finals footy this year.

According to the WFL clearances Dim have picked up a guy from Sandhurst in the Bendigo FL - Lachlan Watts - anyone know anything about him?

MM were singing the praises of L Clark last year now he is just an only!!!

When MM become a serious contender they may just find teams take them a little more serious and may find 2 goals is a long way to make up.

Only an opinion.

Name the ones that arent???

Lenny Clark is a superstar, I never stated otherwise...

Lenny Clark may be a good player but a superstar, I think not.

He is far too defensive. Takes the ruck contest and drops to that kick behind the play. A champion ruckman would be pushing forward creating head aches for the opposition.

I would think Clark would score a lot less goals than say Argall, Liston, Batson etc. To just play a kick behind the play is no where near creative enough to be a superstar.

Lachie Watts is a good footballer and although I don't know what the standard of the Wimmera FL is like, I imagine he would well and truly hold his own in this league.

He has senior football experience with both Seymour in the Goulburn Valley FL and Sandhurst in the Bendigo FL.

He's a fairly humble sort of bloke from what I've known of him too.

Far to defensive?? Only in a few games did he drop back behind play, and that was to rest. He did ALL of the ruck work for the burras throughout the year as he didn't have the chance to rest in the forward line and kick more goals.

And slenko, you cannot be serious by rating Clark to Argall and Liston!
He smashed both players throughout the year by a county mile, and whoever keeps rating these two spuds should go watch them in a game this year. Lazy, soft and a piss poor attitude!

Toohey by 8 votes was it? Superstar and top bloke!

Neither Argall, Liston or Batson rested in the forward line and all kicked twice as many goals as Clark. So that arguement is baseless and very ill informed.

No one made comment on any ones ruck work so not sure where your heading there.

Saying that I would not dismiss either Argall or Liston from the good player category just as I would not dismiss Clark as a "good" player. But superstar? far from it.

May I also say I will not be drawn in on his character. That is not for me to question or comment. If you say he is a good bloke. I'll take your word for it.
