Moving Interstate

The rental market here is tight, very tight. Thousands of Victorians are 6-12 months ahead of you and so competition is high.
Im not a renter and dont know the process but i would suggest contacting some real estate agents in the areas you want to move and have a chat about what you want, budget and location and take it from there.
Hopefully you get up here, get jobs and cant start the next phase in your life in what is quite frankly the best place in my view to live.

out of interest, what areas are you looking at?
 
I’m about to move interstate for the third time in three years. A friend of mine was right - it gets easier every time.
 
The only thing keeping me and my family from moving interstate is finding housing and shifting our stuff. The logistics and costs is off putting, given we have only one income.

We want to get over to SA, Mt Barker to be exact.

I moved twice in one year, but no more than a 15 minute drive each time. And with minimal furniture (when I moved to my apartment I needed to buy new fridge, couch, TV etc). That was a pain in the ass enough. I cant even begin to imagine what it would be like to move interstate, or even worse OS.

I honestly feel like moving overseas would be much easier than interstate. You obviously can't and wouldn't take anything with you other than yourself and the absolute essential items, passport, money etc.
 
Looking back about 10 years for the move from Perth to GC, at the time i was a little stressed but more so about finding a place to rent (as we had just booked a short stay apartment for 2 weeks and needed to find a rental for 6-9 months while the house was built).
the actual move was fine. We used allied pickfords. 3 days out from moving they dropped off boxes as we chose the partly pack yourself option. We did bedroom stuff and left them to do kitchen, bathroom and laundry plus hard furniture.
The day before they came and packed their part of the stuff.
Then the day of moving they came and loaded up all packed boxes and furniture in morning and then in afternoon we too our car to the train station and it got driven onto train to head perth to Adelaide and then it was transferred to a truck and went from there to GC. And they took us from train station to airport. This was btw with two kids under 4.

they held our stuff at their GC depot until we found the rental which was about 3 weeks later. Car we got as soon as it arrived so we could take back the rental.
 
I once moved a block and a half away, but across a four lane main road

Being about 22 I refused to pay for removalists or a truck, and instead got up three nights in a row from 3-5am so I could avoid playing Frogger whilst pushing a whitegoods-laden trolley

My housemate was not impressed, he had to help me with the fridge and couch

Depends on the situation you're in. I'm single, so yeah if I moved overseas it'd be pretty simple.

I've seen shows like The Real Seachange, families moving over here + shipping their stuff. Is a 10/10 nightmare, from what they showed lol.
