I think we should use 4 on a gun Mid like Cotchin, Ebert, Masten, or Palmer... and trade to get a KPP. Someone like Moran as someone mentioned earlier. Has anyone thought to put Big P Johnson in the backline? I think he could fill a similar role to Egan at the Cats. He's definitely big enough.

Cotchin will be gone, masten is too siumilar to Nathan Jones and Brock. Palmer is good but no where near top 5, he is only rated so highly because he played one good game in the U/18 champs. Ebert and Rance are the only two i would consider for pick 4

I say take Rance at 4...trade TJ to Sydney...get Selwood # 4 with pick 11.

Then pick 21. Melbourne should definatly look at Scott Simpson who a FF/CHF that is quick off the mark, pretty straight kick and a very good grab.

Or Robbie Tarrant, now dont let the last name put you off, he would be a great addition at Full Foward. He is a big (196cm), mean, strong and Weaver says he's a bit like Barry Hall

Scott Selwood is no where near good enough for pick 11, if his last name was Smith then he would be going in the second round. That being said he still is a great player, but will go far too early because of his last name

Maybe true about the name, but i've seen him play 3 times this season and let me tell you...the kid can play. Joel is better but Scott isn't far behind. Will be an intriguing draft. I hope membership cracks 30,000 in 2008.

I have never thought that size would have been the issue with him, how ever his mobility would worry me. I mentioned Moran before, definately someone to have a talk about and with.

I honestly doubt the membership will improve much, if at all, after our terrible 07 and no Judd coming.

I like the sounds of Ebert at 4, as long as he doesn't want to go home later. Rance is apparently the type of player we need but about the 9th best player in the draft. I'd definitely like to get Murphy as I've always rated him. Perhaps we could turn him into a full back even? He had a good body for it at least.

After, that comment, I'll move onto Ebert . The risk you take with him is that he might want to go home, but I think he sounds like a good player, so it will be interesting to see what Melbourne do with their first pick.
Whoever recommended Murphy has got good instincts, he's a great player, and I would love to see him at Melbourne.
