It'll be interesting to see if we actually do end up doing that.

The later rounds of this year's draft are pretty poor. Are we better placed gambling on a kid for two years when there's a large possibility of him not making it, or leaving a spot free so we can draft more heavily in a stronger draft?

I actually wouldn't mind seeing us use the mature rookie rule on a state league ruckman.

Get him into the system for a year and have a look at him.

Is there anyone you've got in mind?

Travis Ronaldson gave the ruck a good go for Coburg but I doubt he's got the height to compete at AFL level. He;s just about the only one I can think of.

Not really...

To be honest I haven't seen a lot of state league football in the last 12 months.

If Cartledge made the VFL team, then it's fair to say we should be looking outside of Victoria.

And with the belting that the VFL gave the WAFL, I think Western Australia is probably out of the question as well.

Like you, I haven't seen much state league football for a while.

Pev will stay on a one year deal.
Mark Johnson will be delisted and Bradley will walk.

I'll assume you are on the money here as you are normally pretty accurate with the inner workings at Bomberland.

I would be disappointed if Bradley walked and we lost him for nothing, big waste of an early pick. I would like to see him get one more year and play anywhere but KPP.

MJ I can see going. Would like to see him in a FP but doesn't have the leg speed to chase defenders down.

My mail is that JJ was pissed off and wasn't seen anywhere near the club for the last few games of the season....any weight to this?

Agree.

I think we'll regret losing Keps.

I dont know why people make this crap up . He had a groin injury towards the end of the year and he was at the club getting treatment. He had a minor opp on it in the week before the last game.
I spoke to him at half time of the Bendigo v Nth Ball final shortly after he had the opp.
So you better sack your mail man as he is well and truely off the mark !

It would be a realstic expectation that we would not be looking at top 4 next season let alone contesting for a flag.

As such we should be looking to remove players from our list that aren't going to get us to the next level.

JJ should go, for the same reasons we didn't want Campo or Bolton. They are not going to be a part of the next top 4 Essendon side.

I tend to agree with you, Hawthorn in particular released their older players with the arrival of Clarkson and they have turned their fortunes around.

Having said that, MJ and JJ weren't playing towards the end of the season, they should be pushed to make the senior 22 instead of having an automatic selection... this will be determined by the development of the young players, one shouldn't be played if they haven't earned the right to!

If JJ was out of contract i would agree. It would have been the end of the line. Given he is contracted for next year i dont mind him playing out next year. He has given us heaps on the field and even more off field and around the club over the last 10 years.

Yes I agree, he deserves one more year...

Add to that, the fact that we need some experienced tough midfielders or the kids will get belted from pillar to post.

Complement the youth and speed with some strength and experience.

Knights is coming across very well, I'm liking his honest and forthright approach.
