Now that trade week is dead and buried and Essendon came out of it with no changes lets look at the next stage.

Who is going to be delisted?
How many will be delisted?

Richard Cole has already gone and there will obviously need to be more to make room for the draft picks.

Pick 6 - Will be used.
Pick 23 - Will be used.
Pick 39 - Darcy Daniher (F/S)
Pick 55 - Will be used.
Pick 71 - probably wont be used
Pick 87 - Wont be used.

The next question is will we or wont we pick up a player in the PSD?
Obviously people will think J.Brennan, however I doubt he would get to Essendon through the PSD with Richmond, Western Bulldogs definitely looking at him.

Umm.. yeah if we could land Brennan for nothing then we should give it a go, but as you say I cant see him getting to thru to us. It depends on who else gets delisted or walks from other clubs in the next few weeks.

In the event that we realise that we can get Brennan then we either only pick 3 kids or boot Bradley off to freo in the PSD.

Either way I think we need 4 new faces to keep up the good work we have done over the last couple of years.

He just has to put a price on his head that no one else can match or say he wants to come to us and refise to sign with anyone else. If Bradley ends up in the PSD, I wouldnt be surprised if the Bullgdogs take him over Brennan.

So if Brennan has his heart set on Essendon he can nominate for the PSD, tell Carl, Rich, WB that he will not accept an offer by them no matter what the circumstances and thus guaranteed being picked up and offered a contract with the bombers?

He can set a price so high for other clubs that they will not take him, eg 2mil per year, but the price he sets for Essendon can be a price agreed upon by all parties, which is more reasonable. If however, Richmond for example, decide Brennan is worth 2 mil per year, then Brennan is stuck going to Richmond. Im sure he wouldnt be all that disappointed though.

If he sets a price of $2m per year which the three clubs will obviously decline, and we are interested in picking him up, aren't we forced to meet the $2m price tag to attain his services?

If Lloyd or Lucas moves onto the external vets list, that will free up another spot.

We'll have at least 5 picks in the ND.

The question was what is the minimum picks you have to take.

What ever price he puts on himself applies to any club that picks him up.

What can be done though is to frontload, high price , then lower price second third years.

haha wouldnt you love to put kepler in the psd and then, assuming there was no-one decent to pick, just draft him again one ahead of freo. freo wouldnt give us anything decent for a #6 pick in a draft, and think they will try and get him for free.

got this off the age - Brennan's future was less certain. The enigmatic 23-year-old is effectively estranged from the club and the Dons are keen to winkle him out of Brisbane for nothing through the pre-season draft.
