Hi guys, i'm from country Victoria and am moving down to Melbourne in the eastern suburbs (just out of Chadstone) and was wondering if any of you guys could recommend places to visit/places to avoid etc.? I also want to join some sort of sporting organisation, preferably a tennis, mixed netball, basketball or handball competition. Are there many of these running in the area? Cheers.

Avoid the monash in peak hour.

Oakleigh indoor sports has netball pretty much everyday of the week, you'd be able to get a game there. Also has cricket, beach volleyball, soccer... I've played in a few teams there and it's pretty cheap and well run.

Dunno if u have mates if Melbourne but best way is to get a few and enter a team.

I'd go check out Costco in Ringwood, followed by a trip to the Magistrates Court in Ringwood also.

I reckon it should be mandatory for all interstate transplants to Melbourne to go and visit Ringwood.

It will stop them constantly saying shit like "It's so cultural here!" "I love the arts scene here" "Everyone is so open minded here" etc etc

hey hey, he'll double their membership!

Waverley Basketball Association would be your closest and caters for a wide range of players. Handball competition is only played on the other side of the city from what I know, but I think one of the teams trains in Caulfield which is near Chaddy - visit the nearby racetrack for Guineas day which is usually a pretty good day out. You could also head East a bit and check out the open training sessions of Australia's premier footy team at Waverley Park

Well when people visit here they usually stick to the CBD, inner north, inner south and inner east. Never the outer suburbs, except Cranbourne which saw a rise in tourism when they announced the NBN would be built there.
