Thank you mr hamill after drafting you and grooming you as a footballer spending money on you in court so you could play in a grand final (only 1 for you) and you pleading to our legend sticks i would be so pround to wear your jumper because i have barracked for the blues all my my life.leaving 12 months later saying john elliott picked on me when all it really was was $$$$$$ just like his best mate did a few years later mr scott$$$ pagan picked on me cancerale.thank you your $600.000 a season would have us in more financial ******** than we are now.:

maye get over it !!! clearly a little hung up over the issue

I have been told that Hamil's knee and hip is so fkd anyway that is why they played him in the finals last year.

It basically did not matter anyway, his hip and knee are so far gone he couldn't do anymore damage.

Suffer you greedy money hungry SNAKE Hamil.
Thought you were going to the land of milk and honey, you went no where mate. NO WHERE!

21 games in 2 years, great return for the Saints, money well spent!:)

the time to stop discussing Hamill came years ago ... absolutely irrelevant issue in Blues discussion these days

I'm still baffled how St Kilda could give Hamill another long-term contract knowing the shape his body was in.

I'll never understand it. Ever.

Worse than the 1st idiot.
Way to hold a grudge

Longer contract, less money per year, less pressure on the cap.

Pretty simple really.

he is getting what he deserves nothing ....sold his mates for money after wanting sticks number what a disgrace just like the sheep dog campo going to them because there is more chance of playing finals yeah right

Why is it you people can't come to grips with the fact that the reason he left is being welcomed back to your club. How dumb is that?
Gluttons for punishment.

:thumbsd: Get over it. Hamil made a decision 6 years ago. There are 2 sides to every story, let's just move on. It's not Hamil's fault that we have had a few tough years. Perhaps we needed it to realise how good we had been and how lucky we were as Carlton supporters, given the success Carlton had had. We are on the way back now.

In the intervening period, let's cut Hamil a bit of slack, he has tried his best for both Carlton and St Kilda and no-one deserves the sort of bad luck he has had. I wish him all the best and hope that he gets back on the field again!

Imagine how much better We will feel if we top the Saints with Hamil in the side. You always want to beat the best when they are at their best.:) :)

Buddy, if you need to fix your comma key, we can start a collection.

The thing about Hammil was - yes he left for the money (up yours David Allison) - but even if we'd only paid him one dollar to play for us, we would still have been cheating our arses off and miles over the salary cap. So there was no way we could have kept him - if the Saints didn't buy him, someone else would have.

So I'm over the issue. Sorry about the injuries Sammy - you deserved better.

Interesting to note that Hamill was 23 when he left Carlton for a deal reported to be worth more than $400k a year. Fast forward to 2006 & 23 year old Bret Thornton stays at Carlton for a deal reported to be worth $300k per year. Does anyone think that Hamill was a more valuable player to team structure than the T-bird? IMO T-bird is as valuable a player (if not more valuable given the lack of depth in our defence) as Hamill & yet 6 years later we are able to retain him for less than Hamill was asking.

That is his current contract, which still has this year & next year left on it, meaning it started in 2004. His initial 3 year contract was reported to be worth somewhere around $1.3 or $1.4 million, starting at around $400k per year.

I'm almost certain his first contract with the Saints was for 4 years:

4 year deal - 2001, 2002, 2003 and 2004
Contract was extended in 2004 for 5 years
5 year deal - 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008

Either way you slice it, St.Kilda made a big mistake here, a BIG mistake.

They sure did :D

Considering he hasn't played a lot of footy since his new contract, his pay packet per game will average out to nearly $1M LMAO :D

Hmm. Looks like it was $2.2M over 4 years. Pity I couldn't find anything more authoritive.
