Roll on 2007 - can't get any worse. Can it?

Lets see, how about:

1. Cook/Costa re-sign Thomson to 5-year deal.

2. Hawkins decides Geelong is a basket case, enters the draft and is selected by CARLTON with their first pick. He combines with Pagan and 'the paddock' to become the 'Carey' of the next 10 years for the Blues.

3. Scarlett walks out, and the only trade we can make is with Collingwood for Jason Cloke and Chris Tarrant.

4. Chapman named captain, but immediately falls victim of the 'Captain's Curse' with a serious career ending injury.

I'm only bringing them up so they don't actually happen

Who's your sponsor? TAC?

I remember when Jay Schulz blew we lost the TAC sponsorship and it turned out we got a better deal than the TAC one.

IMO clubs should try and avoid such sponsorships as its out of the clubs hands what a player may get up too in his own time, and its not fair on the club, its players and all the supporters to have a sponsor pull a sponsoship because of a players misdiscretion.... well unless you are Collingwood of course.

Totally agree. The TAC are a bunch of dictators. They dumped Richmond, yet stuck with Collingwood. What was the difference ?
They also stuck with sponsorship of the Aus GP,despite head-honchos at that mob being booked for being over 0.05 and speeding offences.

We love having Danny Meyer and Adam Pattison for him, no one even thought he was worth two top 20 picks I bet TW was suprised at what we got for him.

You must get over it.Even the Dice Man has [hell I'm shocked ;) ]

Possible he is up there with the Mitch White/Haynes recruiting flops.. any Otto lovers left?

Cant mark
Cant kick anymore
Cant bend down
Spends all his time on the groun
not fit

Off-field: ****head, dumb as a post, 26 years old and no brains.

:thumbsd:

You're the one with no brains. Who are you ? Trevor Grant? Ottens has played well the second half of the year, and would play better if the umps played free kicks when he has two defenders hanging off him all the time.
He's a pretty accurate kick, can mark, dominates in the ruck, and with a good pre-season, could do well. But people like you and the media will never praise Ottens, no matter how well he plays. He needs to be given more a go with the umps, that's all. At least he's out there playing, while you sit on your fat bum stuffing your face with potato chips, and criticising others.

Don't care about the Ottens incident. As long as whatever they do doesn't adversely affect the performace of the club then I'm happy that the club et al stay out of what is primarily a private matter between said player and the justice system.

That's how these things go. I am very disappointed in what he's done, but he'll lose his license, get a fine, be disciplined by the club and in a month's time every one will have forgotten about it.

The word is that Brad Ottens tried to do a runner, but physically couldn't. And it wasn't due to the alcohol consumption.

haha!! thats a good one -
I wonder if he denied that he was in fact Brad Ottens just like Cousins did when he ran to the restaurant to use the phone.

Soupy, always so positive. Not one of your posts have ever breathed any sense of positivity.

Had you watched any of our games, maybe you would realise he has had a good season.

But no, let's blame it on him. He is an easy target and we need a scapegoat

Get over what!
I'm stoked we don't have this guy and don't have to put up with his damn antics.
Ever since his first game with Geelong people have thought this guys was gonna come good after not doing much with the Tigers but obviously he has shown that once a moron always a moron ie: Zantuck, Gardiner, Angwin, Norman there have been plenty of footy players and now he has joined that list.

If you are going to include Ottens on this list, I guess you are saying Schulz should be there too?

Mate, get over it. We didn't even carry on this long about Leigh Colbert and he was our captain! Ottens gave you blokes great service and you got 2 1st round picks.

Its not his fault you treated him badly.:D

I thought he read 0.116. not 0.16 but that's not really the point. I read with interest this morning that Brian Cook said Ottens was remorseful. I was wondering what he was remorseful about: the fact he was drunk while driving, or the fact he got caught.

This year just keeps getting worse.

Did you hear that some people (in general hahaha) want the club to can the team London trip. Hahaha Would serve them right in a way.
It was in the Herald Sun today... I really can't be stuffed finding the article to post so bad luck.

WOOT! VFL today! :p

Would be too difficult to re-arrange. Just a knee jerk reaction. Don't clubs ususally take a pack of drunks to these games anyway;)

I'm sure it's the former. Twice the legal limit is bad enough - three times, I'd be comatose myself.

They will still be carrying on in 5 years time. The Bullies don't go on about Nathan Brown, and they would have as much right.

Absolutely the latter. If he was sorry about the former, it would mean that even if he didn't get caught, he would fess up and tell the police and the club that he drove last night while being drunk and he is prepared to accept the consequences. Can you see that happening!? Not on your life!
The only reason these football players/stars etc are EVER sorry or remorseful is because they got caught!
I've never heard one player ever apologise for driving while intoxicated after NOT having been caught!
I'm fed up with idiot players who can't stay off the grog. Why risk it?

Ford

doubt we would lose them over this, but i hope we dont as geelong and ford is the longest running sports club/sponser partnership in the world

Longest running Major sponsor.

I hear that the people who supply the balls for Wimbledon have been at it longer.

But enough nit-picking.

It just keeps getting better.

What scandal will hit the club next?

Morons the lot of em.

I can nit-pick as well since the original comment was along the lines of longest sponsorship for a sporting club. Wimbledon is an event!!
