Mark McGough's New name, Mr Wetman. He Relishes the Wet Conditions. Good Game.

Every single one of his touches was Magnificent. If The Pies would've won He woul;d've ahd another Anzac medal to His Name, we should just keep him aound and he can be the Anzac Specialist.

Hopefully he can continue this form, I also hope Mullins Comes in off The Back of 32 Disposals for Willi.

I don't think he she be labelled a wet weather speciallist. I just think his lack of pace isn't shown up as much. His clearance work, vision and ball handling should be even better in the dry. Anyway, I'm a fan of his and just hope he can hang around in the side. Surely O'bree and Shaw would have to go before MCG.

It's hard to explain this, but Mark McGough needs to play well not just in the games where he has the opportunity to become a hero, (eg. 2nd half against Geelong, ANZAC days) and play with the mind set of "I need to get the job done" rather than "I need to be the hero".
Mick Malthouse has made a comment like this before and I agree with him. Marks passion for the game is great, he is eager to learn and has been willing to sacrifice his game at Willy in order to improve in his deficiencies (for example, becoming more of a tagger in one game to improve his defensive skills).
If McGough can improve his kicking ,consistantly find space cleverly so as not to expose his pace, and improve his defensive side of the game just a little bit he will be a gun if he plays to his strengths.
McGough is excellent at standing up in the tackle and not losing himself in it. He is excellent at lightning quick extractions from stoppages and almost always finds a team mate in space from stoppages, unlike players like O'Bree and Woewodin who often panic when they get the ball out of stoppage and just kick it blindly over their shoulders. McGough has great awareness of those around him.

I have a better rule. Mick you are not allowed to take him out of the middle let alone off the ground. If anyone can tell me the goals Essendon kicked from centre clearance when McGough was off late in the quarters I'll tell you the differenec in the scores - same number I reckon.

I've been on this bandwagion for ages but McGough must play every week and be the number 1 centre clearance player while we rotate the rest (fitness permitting). As far as his kicking goes, he is actually pretty good when really under physical pressure. Unlike a few others he doesn't pannick and he holds his ground and his balance. His field kicking is average but it doesn;t get worse under the pump unlike a O'Bree and a few others. Watch McGoughs clearances from ANZAC Day. Apart from Cam being the strong CHF we have craved since Wiederman that was the highlight for me.
