Opinion MRP - The Evil SOB??

1. Zero of our injuries occured during match sim so no. We did have 1 corkie with Liam Duggan but that was during normal training not Match sim

2. Ive answered this over half a dozern times but list is - Trew, Sheed, Hewett, Ryan, Darling, Burgiel, Kelly, Rotham, A. Reid, Ginbey, Chesser . These are known ones. Jones/Duggan/Yeo also had injury scares in relations to corks and soreness which has led to them having a week off so smaller issues. TOn top of that though you still got Culley coming back too and Jake Waterman building back too. All of this is not a injury issue it seems...

Where does the lower leg start according to you? Somewhere around the ribcage?

How are corkies, an ACL and a GUT issue related to the surface at MRP exactly?

Or A.Reid already having the issue prior to being drafted???

We have Sheed, who's had a foot issue for quite some time. Maybe be MRP related, could be Optus?

Hewett, who had issues before he was drafted. Don't recall him training that much at MRP for the 2 years prior.

3 blokes who went to Qatar to get specialist treatment who have been in great nick all preseason.

A couple of blokes who have returned to full training after a couple of weeks taking a back seat.

Darling, who's old, but is still doing running.

So realistically it's Sheed(out for a while with a foot problem, could be MRP related?), Hewett(longstanding issue prior to being drafted) and Ryan(already back at training and doing rehab work but appears to be recovering well.

It's not the issue you're making it out to be.

3 blokes at a time will take a whiile though

You completely skipped over Burgiel (big issue), Trew, Chesser (big issue), Kelly, Rotham (barely tained) and so forth so a bit selective in all of that.

Training BLOCKS are important for athletes. Interruptions are not just like skipping a meal at breakfast. It has flow on effects that last a fair while. I dont have to tell you that teams with big injury lists dont tend to have good seasons and this is where we are heading.

We havnt even played a competitive game and in my list we have those unable to play in any capacity as

Trew, Burgiel, Chesser, Darling, Ryan, Rotham, Culley, Sheed, Hewett

This is not a problem ?

Im not including Waterman, Duggan and Culley in my 10? Im just mentioning it as a overall concept where Pyke said we dont have a injury issue

Reid has a new injury im afraid. Was reported a day or 2 ago now but people missed it it seems?

Burgiel had a very minor hammy and is already fully back training.

Chesser had a minor ankle tweak and is again, back training and doing a lot of running

Kelly - Back fully training

Is Trew not back related and not leg, unless something new has happened? He's had back issues for a while now.

Go have a look around at player availability for other teams. WCE currently have 38 players available, which is pretty good, considering they've been doing full on contact since before Xmas.

A. Reid?

The same Reid who was live on the training broadcast today and was unimpeded?

It doesnt even pass the eye test

Go through the pictures and you can see. That grass is burnt. At what point of the season do you expect us to play on a ground that looks like that? If we wont play on it during the year, why do we train on it?

Grass and turf isnt some new science that needs reinvention or investigating. Its a exact science, a easy science and one that you dont need too much knowledge to understand outside normal farming practices. The problem is simple, the turf underlay soil is too coarse which means the grass doesnt maintain water amongst many many other things. It will make it hard, it will make it uneven (which is why the grass looks inconsistent in areas) and it will also mean that it wont survive changing weather patterns (which is why its burnt to a crisp).

Relaying surface isnt some months long journey of epic proportions. It costs a buttload of money for sure, but its not something that takes a long time to do. Soccer clubs worldwide replace their turf in days, they need to have that ability if the turf freezes over or the opposite where the underground heating basically burns it to a crisp. Normally takes them less then a week to redo. Id be staggered if we couldnt re-do the MRP turf in 2-3 weeks max and that would be us being extra cautious.

2-3 weeks training at other facilities such as the Western Forces facilities in Floreat, fix the concrete dustbowl and when we go back in March, we can train on a surface during the week which wont destoy our legs before the game even starts.

I get people want to assume the best and in turn accept mediocirity when it comes to subjects they dont understand but that is why we are where we are. The accepting of mediocrity based on past good results is leading us to be the worst team in AFL history. Now I think we should well change that myself, rather then just up and accept our problems

We have a problem, the grass is stuffed. ******* fix it

Just looks like it has been sacrified to get it ready for the start of the season .

Always looks a bit s**t for a week or two after its done

Can’t believe Pyke hasn’t acted on the fact every single player on our list currently has a lower leg injury. Allen’s shoulder, Barrass’ back, Witherden’s concussion, Jack Williams’ ruptured spleen … the list goes on.

Sure, a lot of them are historical and nowhere near the lower leg, but if you don’t count them as part of the problem you’re just accepting mediocrity.

Hewett's foot injury he has had since before he set foot in MRP is because of MRP?

Ok, got it.

Sack Pyke.

It got worse, why did it get worse ?

It got worse when he increased his training loads but he was already playing through pain before being drafted. Wasn't an issue last year as a first year player.

Its funny to mention Hewett but you didn’t mention Chesser or Burgiel, why is that ?

Chesser's injury was due to being pushed in a marking contest and doing serious damage to it, it wasn't stress related.

Plenty of other young players have similar issues to Burgiel around the League. I don't recall George Wardlaw ever training at MRP and look at the issues he's had.

You are cherry picking 1 sole injury out of Chester’s half a dozen there….

It’s actually a fair concept to think about. Let me try and figure out how many training ground injuries eagles have had compared to Fremantle so we can compare two exact matches?

Well, he's had one major injury during his time at the club, which came when he was pushed during his first intra club.

It was then reported that it could've been career-threatening and he'll likely have constant pain from it throughout his career but it can be managed.

How is this 'cherry-picking'?

Freo train on a different oval, as do the other 16 sides.

How are they specifically relevant?

All across the league you can see first and second year players battling through constant injury as they get used to the rigours of AFL footy.

I'd say the issue would've been far more likely to be injury management/recovery, which has supposedly led to some personnel changes in the medical department.

They need to give up on sacrifying and get in the experts IMO
