MSD is going to come around pretty quick considering it’s being held on the 28th May.

At this stage we don’t have have any free list spots so we won’t be taking a pick, but a lot can change on the injury front in 7 weeks of footy.

A few players who’d be on my short list would include:

Massimo Raso - Richmond VFL small forward. Previously played for the Western Jets, kicked 3
goals today and kicked another 2 in round 1. Plenty of scope for upside.

Kobe Ryan - premier ball winner in the SANFL, very unlucky not to have been given a chance yet. Has started off the season on fire averaging over 30 disposals and 5 tackles per game.

Ben Hopkins - North VFL listed half back. Skinny, but only 20 years old and has plenty of potential with his clean kicking, composure and decision making.

There are a few overagers in the Coates League that will no doubt be on the radar too.

Tomlinson if we want a better ready made KPD depth defender for the back end of this year

From a list balance POV do we really need him?

Chom, Corr, Logue, Dawson x 2, Whitlock and Pink. That’s a lot of list spots for key defenders.

In saying that, his form suggests he is more than capable of contributing at AFL level.

For mine kal dawson and pink will be delisted so I’m fine giving him a list spot for 6-18 months

Pick the guy named Massimo!!!!

Need someone who can play AFL straight away not as a sub in Round 22 as Pink and K Dawson well yes futures not looking good but in saying that Harvey,Phillips,CCJ and Ford are in the same boat.

Totally agree, unless it’s a genuine small forward or a half back with some serious upside.

Is there a tall guy named Jacob who's not sure if he wants to play AFL in this draft?

Asking for a friend.

Or perhaps an underdeveloped half forward type that will need 2-3 preseasons before they get their tank close to AFL standard. We love those types!

Honestly, I find it hard to give a shit.

This current recruiting team have shown an absolute inability to make the correct decisions with MSD selections.

Take this whatever way you want, but a State league coach I know gets calls from many AFL clubs regularly. For example, Cats contact him every fortnight without fail, as do GWS. They discuss a swathe of players and everything about them. Work ethic, leadership, injury resilience, character, talent, roles they play etc. They talk about both his players and opposition players.
He says he has never had a call from anyone at North.
His words: "This is why you can't find diamonds in the rough"
Our laziness and arrogance is costing us dearly.

Early days but 24 year old Jack Riding from Werribee VFL for me.

High pressure electric forward who can find the footy and pressures like a mad man. Was one of about five smalls Werribee had that were instrumental to two grand finals in a row and taking out the thing last year.

Are there any blokes under our nose at Werribee who we can choose to not draft and then watch them tear it up next year?
Dunno but sight unseen this Ollie Lowe sounds like the sorta chap who could run out in a bulldogs top and tear some first round NM pick a new a-noos.

Isnt he already on the endangered species list?
Saw him last night with Goater he was walking like his time is up as for Goater feel sorry for him just can’t take a trick hope he can get back in the VFL before the Bye and maybe a Round 18-24 AFL games.
But one more major injury with him he might be done I hope not .

That's disappointing to hear. It wouldn't surprise me given your comments about Rawlings and Clayton work ethic before, but you'd hope Thursfield and his fresher recruiting team would be making these calls.

Whoever you like RF08, Rawling won't even look at. Like Massimo, like Bice...

Instead of listing improving youth that have AFL qualities, simply look for another teams retread who can clog the list on a 3 year deal as that's Rawling specialty...

Until this club stops treating MSD or PSD recruits thats never been in the system as second rate players then adding a potential like Ben Hopkins is worthless - can't even get Maley or Payne a look in a rebuilding side and K.Dawson is the first to be dropped even when he gets a go.
