Posting Stats - Rd 8

The Demons appeared to be suffering from a win hangover as posting numbers were well down on the past few rounds. Despite this, we still had 21 contributing in the match thread and had over 52% of all posts. Of the 21 active posters, 14 hit double figures and 12 posted more than 20 times, so the team spirit was still there despite the unfortunate win in the previous round.

The highlight of the round was the sudden return of Azarole and there was also word around town that Proper Gander was sighted around the traps. Very welcome news for the Demons in both cases.
Another highlight for the Demons has been the level of activity from Yakker over the past month or two. Thank god he found his qooty bag!

We have the Gumbies this week. Hopefully we'll see posting numbers jump back to the levels we saw over the past few rounds now that we're back to our losing ways.

DT Stats - Rd 8

Another rainy day for the Demons and another loss. This is the fourth time from seven matches that we've played in unfavourable conditions for DT and the scores reflected this fact with the team total being just 6 points higher than our lowest score for the season.

The one exception was cartwright who appeared to thrive in the conditions with 90 DT points; a score that would've been very respectable even in perfect conditions.
moginie has been great since his move to the back flank, while DERO was back in All-SFA form after a couple of relatively quiet weeks.
Headless broke his run of three consecutive single figure scores with his second highest score for the season.

Quivorir still leads the season averages at 84.5 DT points per game played. He has the advantage of having played both of his games in good conditions.
Hopefully he'll push for selection again and add to the two great games he's played to this point.

I've added season highs and lows to the table for each player this week for easy reference. Tarkyn_24 currently has the highest score for the season with 126.This is totally unacceptable. Hopefully someone beats it this week. I'd even be ok with a win as long as he gets knocked off the top spot.
Screw it, I'm going to do a weighted DT score table that converts scores from the four games in the rain and mud to projections of what they would have been had the games been played in good conditions. That'll f*** him.

Weighted DT Stats - Rd 8

So, I worked out a multiplier based on the difference between the average scores from our three weeks in good conditions and our four weeks in rain and mud and converted them into the projected scores based on that multiplier. And yep, exactly as I planned, Tarkyn_24 got pushed fron top score down to equal third highest score.

cartwright's 90 in the rain equated to 140, with manangatang and Hate also moving up to 135 and 126 respectively with their Round 2 scores.

Hate and cartwright also jumped Quivorir in the averages, although his numbers are still very impressive and he averages higher than several full time midfielders.

If all Demons games had been played in good conditions DERO would be averaging a huge 61 DT points from the back pocket.

Greenery was projected to score over 100 points from full forward against the Pheonix Phoenix.

Positional Changes - Round 8

Round 8 saw the second lowest number of position changes for the season, just one higher than last week's low of four. All five changes were in the first half in contrast to Round 7 where all changes were in the second half..

Favourable Changes
DERO and cats2rise both had runs in the midfield while Headless was given the reponsibility of single-handedly trying to stop the Bears half forward line while his two back flankers were playing their own game within a game where thay were both attempting to score more rushed behind goals for the opposition than the other.

Not so favourable changes
PMBangers was moved from centre half back, but once again found himself remaining in defence.
manangatang and Tarkyn_24 were both moved from their midfield positions in the second quarter and spent the rest of the game on the interchange. I don't understand why anyone would want to do that to mang.

Notes:
  • Numbers in the table represent the percentage of the total gametime for the match spent in that position.
  • Green boxes represent positions players were named in this round.
  • Yellow boxes represent positions players ended the game in if it was different to their starting position

Positional Changes - Season

Observations:
  • manangatang is still one of only two Demons that have not spent any time in defence this season. However, he has spent more time on the interchange than any other player who doesn't start there. He's clearly not interested in playing anywhere if he's moved from the comfort of his wing. Unless it's full forward.
  • After coming off their starting positions on the interchange this season, cats2rise and Headless have spent time in six different onfield positions, just ahead of four others who have played in five different positions.
  • PMBangers spent time on the interchange for the first time this week but came back on in the back pocket, meaning he has still spent 100% of his time onfield in defence.
  • Despite starting in the back pocket for the entire season, DERO has spent over one third of all gametime in the midfield. That's more time than he's spent in the back pocket. On the flip side, he has spent the second most time, behind mang, sitting on the interchange of all of the Demons onfield starting players.
