I think Libba would make a good american president. Bob would too. And apparently Stringer likes schoolgirls so he's probably most qualified

For the 'Pies:

Nick Daicos
Josh Daicos
Peter Daicos
Colleen Daicos

I think Norths first two are easy.

Carey: the reason North won two nineties flags. 4 b&fs. 7 AAs. NM Team of the Century captain. One of the two best players in the greatest era of football.

Greig: most important player for North’s first golden period. 2x Brownlows. AFL Team of the century.

I find it hard to pick the next two out of Blight, Archer and Boomer. They’ve all got strong cases.

Showing my age. And apologies, I couldn't stop at 4.

Sticks:
Stephen Kernahan.

Jezza:
Alex Jesaulenko.

Big Nick:
John Nicholls.

The Flying Doormat:
Bruce Doull.

The Dominator:
Wayne Johnstone.
Yep, the first four are mine. They are the CFC giants.
Had The Dominator on the back of my duffle coat👍

Why do we have to have an American analogy for these things?

Because it's a bit of fun in the preseason

Yeah like what's wrong with '4 best players from each club'?
Came here expecting to see people's thoughts on which afl players would make the best american presidents

Who is on your Mt Rushmore?

I'll give it a crack.

Geelong
Ablett, Farmer, Ablett, Selwood

I'll tweak the Geelong one:

Ablett senior, Farmer, Ablett junior, Wade

Very easy to consider players like Hickey, Smith, Garry Hocking as well. I'd say the first three are straightforward, gets a bit more complicated after that.

Danger/Selwood/Hocking fighting it out for my last place. Danger came later but he has been so good for us for so long.

It is just an iconic symbol for elite people in a category. It's like the Everest horse race, it has nothing to do with Nepal, China or Tibet.

Honestly I'd put Danger > GAJ if we're strictly viewing him for his time at Geelong only.

GAJ had four incredible seasons at the Cats. Danger has had half a dozen?

It is an argument, Ablett had 4-5 seasons of being the undisputed best player in the competition as well as a decent comeback and the name has some serious pull. Both won Brownlow's and premierships at the club, but none won the Norm which I am guessing only Bartel has done at Geelong winning the treble? Before I get abused, Ablett in my mind deserved the 08 in our losing side and Danger was as close as possible in 22, also won the Gary Ayers medal as player of the finals.
Danger has 5 AA, 3 bnf, Gary Ayers Medal,Leigh Matthews Trophy, Brownlow and Premiership and captained a side to a grand final. If anyone chooses him I say fair enough. Ablett has 3 leigh matthews,4 All Australians, 2 premierships and a Brownlow at Geelong so it is very hard to split them. Ablett played 192 games for Geelong Danger has played 206 games, Ablett kicked 262 goals at the club and Danger has kicked 202.

Selwood gets the nod for me.

Inspirational captain, 4 flags.

Leadership and longevity an important metric.
Yes he is an icon of the era as well, the leader of the pack. I would say similar to Ted Whitten at the Dogs, the character almost as big as the footballer.

1-Kim Duthie
2-Burning Dwarf
3-Ricky Nixon
4-Sam Fisher

Ablett's best - even at Geelong - was better. Was clearly the best player in the competition from 2007-2010 until he left, and was clearly the best player in the competition for another 4 years until his shoulder injury. Dangerfield was the best player in the competition for exactly one year - 2016. People forget Ablett was still a very good player prior to 2007 too - he won the club's goalkicking in 2006.

Ablett got just as much of the ball (if not more), a far better kick, and although he spent far less time down there, a better goalkicker. He was also a far better and more consistent finals performer.

Danger has had 4 good seasons, GAJ had 4 good seasons as well

the stigma between the two separates them imho. GAJ is considered by many to be one of the finest players of this century so should be on it.

If you're talking 2007-2010 they were a lot better than "good".

I don't think the stigma separates them, and no one has enjoyed a better media reputation than Dangerfield. On pure football ability and output, to me it's not close. Mind you, I think the same with Ablett and every other midfielder of the same time period. Three times he won the player's MVP and the coach's MVP. That's just at Geelong too.

Accolades aren't everything but the tale of the tape is the following for their tenure at Geelong.

Danger - 5x AA, 1x Brownlow, 3x B&F, 1x Premiership and Captain of the club. 206 games and counting.
GAJ - 4x AA, 1x Brownlow, 2x B&F, 2x Premiership. 247 games all out.

That being said you could look back and argue that GAJ was stiff not to win 3x Brownlow's in that time.

Need to also include the following though:

Danger - 5x AA, 1x Brownlow, 3x B&F, 1x Premiership and Captain of the club. 1 x Players MVP, 1 x Coaches MVP. 206 games and counting.

Spot on about the additional Brownlows for Ablett. Could have very easily won in 2008 and 2010, and only Mark Thompson can answer why he didn't win the 2010 Best and Fairest.
