I don't think $330k a year is hideously overpriced for Mundy, but even so, as it stands at the moment his performances haven't warranted it. You're paying for blue sky with no guarantee he's going to deliver.

I am not saying we will keep all our youngsters, what I was implying was that Mundy is a good player, but I cannot see them giving up players like Polo and the other youngsters. I would not call what I said a 'crud' offer at all, but I would not go much further for the fact of where the tigers are headed in the way of breeding our own, not recruiting elsewhere.

Tell me honestly you rate King and JON plus a 2nd and 3rd round pick as a value offer for Mundy and an extremely promising giant/mobile young ruckman.

Your 2nd and 3rd round picks may get you one of them.

Tend to agree about the $330k. Not a huge amount but is above the market for Mundy (who i do rate).
Pay him what he's worth and maybe an incentive for a top 5 in the F&B finish.

Remember the Essendon team of the century in 2000. They went absolutely overboard paying huge salaries to everyperson they could and on long term contracts. As form fell (and wages didn't) they had no option but to dismantle and trade off the team.

IMHO still paying for it today.

But if they didn't sign those players on good $$$$$$ they would have asked for a trade to someone who would have met their contractual demands anyway.

In hindsight, that probably would have been beneficial for the club, and they may well have been playing finals for the last few years if they did. Great teams can get rid of their ordinary players for more than they're worth, because they're made to look good by the players around them.

That's partly why the Eagles are trying to get rid of Kerr. 1 ordinary season you can pass off, if he has another one next year his trade value will drop from a couple of first rounders to 1 second rounder.
