Just before I get all the hero's commenting about the other 100 threads, don't bother, I don't care.

Mundy is a absoulte gun we need him, if he does actually want to come to melbourne we should be offering our first round pick plus browne.

Hopefully would get it done. If we can offer pick 11 for Mclean we may as well get someone who can actually play and make our starting 22. He was one of freo's best in a smashing.

Can play all over the ground and this is a guy we should go hard at.

Why snipe Mclean and use pick 11 as the cost for Mundy?

Pick 18 and Browne for Mundy would be a dumb trade for Carlton.

A very good young player will get through to that pick.

Nothing against Mundy, but if he was the type of midfielder we lacked, I would be more excited about this trade. I'd rather keep the tiny chance that we could get Lynch, Wilson, Smedts, Cook, McCarthy, Caddy, etc, than trade it away.

Agree completely,the guy would help our team step up bigtime and is worth alot more than pick 11, agree our 1st round pick not to sure they would want Browne, who else from WA do we have that we could afford to loose? Plus we could possible still end up with a late 1st round pick over trading one of the names mentioned over the last month such as Hammer, Sauce, Walker etc. Go Hard Carlton, Mundy is a Gun..

So keep getting young players who will take years to develop? Thats cool but I guess we are planning on winning a prem in 2015?

I was hoping we might win one with Juddy guess thats not what we're trying for.

is Mclean really in our 22? I would love to know why, I don't get too see all the ins and outs all year being in Perth. Just watch the game and he isn't anywhere near it to me.

That's pure ignorance - FIRSTLY there's no way in hell that would get the trade done BUT if by some miracle it did - it would be one of the greatest snares ever!!

A proven midfielder in Mundy is worth more than Browne and a speculative pick 18 in a weak draft. It would in fact be a dumb trade for Freo and they would never accept that little for Mundy he is theire best mid at the moment.

From what I can see, he is capable of winning his own ball and that would help Juddy out tremendously more than a Brock McLean who cannot get on the park.

Agree with this,he has shown some skills but he would be lucky to be
guaranteed a spot in our best 22. Mundy would be there no problems.
 
What about Andrew Walker and Eddie Betts for Mundy... Might suit Fremantle who are missing good players in that age bracket.

We could really use another quality mid in the rotation, especially one who's not afraid to help out the backline.

Too much. One of them maybe involved in the deal but both is too much. I was reasonably keen on trading on Walker, but after the Sydney game I've gone off that a bit, unless trading him out gets us a very good player, e.g. Mundy. So I would consider something like Walker + 18 for Mundy + 3rd round but wouldn't want to lose both Betts and Walker.

It is hilarious that every moron that starts a new thread regarding a trade uses pick 11 for McLean as a precedent for any future trades. McLean is easily in our best 22 when fully fit. To write him off is ridiculously stupid, just as it was stupid to write Yarran off after year 1, just as it was stupid to write Warnock off and just as it was stupid to write JR off. But then again, I shouldn't be expecting much more from the OP who has shown himself to be a moron on many an occasion.

And secondly, Mundy is worth much more than our first round pick and Browne. Why would Fremantle want Browne? He's average at best and may be cut from the list as early as this off-season. Pick 18 in this draft and a fringe player at best is paying under the odds for Mundy who is a gun. We'd take that deal but Fremantle would not.

I understand your logic on that one, but I was trying to work out a way where we keep pick 18. I'm not sure you're getting a lot of value for your picks come the 2nd and 3rd round this year.
 
Mundy is a big name player and the sort of player that would complete our midfield. Mclean might fail and the likelyhood of that is high. Mundy is a big tough and talented young player and we should throw a bit at him.

If Mundy wants to come home then it's not up to Freo. They will Have to take the best offer, we just have to offer something better (out bid) the other Melbourne clubs.
 
gbatman was against recruiting a 26 year old, yet now he wants Mundy who is already 25.

Lets trade with Fremantle so you can all whine about trading away another pick for short term success.

A player who was named in the AA squad would cost us pick 18 and a young player or Lucas.

No thanks.

Work with what we've got and bring in another quality young player.

There appear to be some decent talls available this year.

Let Essendon get Mundy like they signed Prismall.
 
I love trade threads.

Take the best out of contract player from any club. Throw in the cliche "He wants to come home".

Then offer your borderline players or players the team doesnt need.

Why would we want Betts? When we have players like Ballantyne, Walters.

Why would we want Walker? You guys dont even want him.

Then someone said Mundy & Tarrant for Betts and Walker. Our best mid and defender for 2 spuds!

The whole Mundy wants to leave is media driven rubbish. Same with Griffin, Wells, Pavlich etc who have all re-signed.

If he does leave i agree with the poster who said Freo will take the best Victorian bid. If thats Walker and a pick then we simply got the worst of it.

Ive only ever heard he wants to come home, but glad to hear if someone has heard different.

As good as Mundy's been this year if you gave me a choice between him (particularly given my expectations that al least one of McLean + Grigg will have a strong year in 2011) OR a strong, young KPB like Hurley (eg Watson) i'd be taking tha latter over the former.

Betts is 3 times the player Ballantyne is ;)

Tarrant should end up at the Saints though.

I think we'll sign someone though who hasn't even been mentioned :thumbsu:
 
If freo came to us and offered Chris Mayne + Roger Hayden or their 1st rnd pick + ballantyne for say Kade Simpson I hope our recruiters would punch them in the face. Browne + pick 18 wouldn't get us Greg Broughton let alone Mundy.

My bad, I didn't realize IF a player says they want to go back to Melbourne that they were able to demand what-ever they wanted. I thought the best offer would be what they take. Unless they want him to go into the PSD.

Not sure if this is the case of not with him WANTING to go back, but if it is and we offer the best. WE WIN.
 
If he declares for the PSD then he'll have to get past however many picks GC have as well as WC's pick before a Victorian club gets a chance at him. Freo, Mundy, and whichever clubs are chasing him, don't want that to happen, so it won't. Don't delude yourself into thinking freo will take your garbage because we have no leverage.
