I'm not trying to change your stance, I'm trying to understand it. Are you saying if Carlton had an early first round pick and we could either pick up a player like a Michael Hurley or a Tom Scully - given our current list, you would pick Scully over Hurley?

I'd pick whoever I deemed to be the better prospect of the 2.

If that happened to be a player sub-180cm, then so be it.

Height is overrated. Pick the better player in the earlier stages of the draft.

I think with your first rounder you are obligated to the club and supporters to pick the very best available player no matter where they play. Now when you get in to the later rounds of the draft then the recruiters should 100% look to filling up holes in the list. In the NBA a true centre or power forward will always be selected ahead of an equally rated guard in the draft. Why? Because 7 foot athletic beasts just don't grow on trees (and they win you championships) and all recruiters know there will be a decent guard to pick in the next round. I find it a little similar to an afl draft where all the quality talls usually go first round because clubs know its easier to find a quality mid later in the draft then it is to find a quality tall. This also has to do with quantity.

Bit off topic, would Carlton go for Taz and Palmer for Yarran?
You guys add a rising star ball magnet with a left foot... and one of the best full backs goin around and we get an inconsistent fwd who could be a match winner??

Yarran isn't leaving mate, it's been done to death. Three way deal with Adelaide is a possibility involving Mundy.

And Yarran isnt leaving.....What 3 way deal is this?

It's all hypothetical at the moment but with Walker and Jacobs looking to move on, Griffin wanting to go to WA and Mundy on the move I could see something happening with draft picks involved as well particularly to Freo. As I said all hypothetical at the moment, there are plenty of other possibilities.

I would be stunned if Carlton trade Yarran. With two players of *some* value in Walker and Jacobs already in circulation, I can't imagine a scenario where the club thinks it's time to send Yarran off. Only if a young gun KP player was coming back would it be considered, and even then they'd want to be a can't-miss prospect.

No .
We dont need a 30yo with a failing body .
Palmer makes Carrazzo look like Darren Jarman .
Yarran stays , and takes massive steps next year !!!

Would be happy to get Mundy, working out an appropriate deal might be a bit of a trick.

Suggestions of trading Yarran, please, spare us such lunacy!

I think we are now having a very good look at mundy with the possibility of both jacobs and walker going making the chance off getting him raising.

We have Greg Swann who is one of the best deal makers in the game, we also have steven icke who would know mundy from his freo days plus I believe Mundy and 206 were housemates in the early days and are pretty close.

206 may have been having a quiet word with him to try and tempt him to princes park.

They're saying on the Freo board that it was reported on 6PR radio Mundy is coming home.

A press conference has been called, but it was just some radio jocks speculating it would be Mundy announcing he is going.

They forgot that this came out yesterday:
Des Headland is tipped to announce his retirement from the AFL within the next 48 hours following a meeting between the Fremantle veteran and Dockers football department officials today.

http://au.news.yahoo.com/thewest/sport/a/-/afl/7951262/career-looks-over-for-docker-veteran/

Its an announcement for Des' retirement.

Which coach said, if your short you've got 3 minutes to show me you can play, if your tall you've got 3 years to show me you can't

Appatently Mundy is meeting with both Carlton and Melbourne on Monday before the brownlow.
Got this from a good friend in WA (who is a dockers fan) and is a mate of Lloyd who is in the Dockers recruitment department....

Freo are all anti Victoria with Mundy and Taz wanting out it is going to take someone like Yarren to get him + 600 000 as he is reportably getting 550000 at Freo.
Melbourne have Jones wanting out that would suit Freo with a hard inside Mid so i would say if you want Mundy thats what it will cost.

This Mundy and Brennen thing offering 2 Guys with inflated price tags yet realistically similiar players to The Morton brothers at Melbourne and Hawthorn. If melbourne are after Mundy, Morton could also be Bait.
