Especially sad that we will most likely never be able to know the truth for Audrey’s family as to what happened.

It's very sad. It's a small comfort but something knowing that she didn't drown and someone was arrested for taking her life.

'A spokesman for Corrections Minister Anoulack Chanthivong passed on his condolences to Ms Griffin's family.

"The Minister for Corrections acknowledges this very difficult time for the family and loved ones of Audrey Griffin, noting this case will now not be able to be prosecuted through the Courts," he said in a statement.'

I don’t know if that’s a kick in the teeth to Audrey’s family or a massive relief. There’s no real right or wrong way to feel in something like this. Heart breaks for them.

Audrey was a successful tri-athlete and a member of the surf life saving club. Her family would have known she didn't simply drown in a creek on the way home.

God, this makes me so f*****g angry. He's been on the planet for 53 years, but decides that this poor girl won't get out of her teens.
Beyond angry. Furious.

Just another reminder as a woman you cannot go anywhere alone late at night. Especially when trying to go from point A to point B.

Just don't

And another reminder why I am in complete favour of the death penalty.

Sorry, I think I probably wasn’t clear in my post. I meant the accused losing his life. I don’t know how I would feel about that in their shoes.

You probably were clear, I've been a busy going back and forth, a bit out of sync or something.

More coffee will probably fix it. :)

Torrens Oct 2024 bail condition/changes will be under the spotlight.

'Under his bail conditions, Torrens was required to report to North Sydney police station once daily and ordered not to contact his former partner or consume non-prescribed drugs or alcohol. A fortnight later, his bail conditions were varied, reducing his mandatory reporting to police to weekly.'

Yeah I will.

Get stuffed right back. Seriously :rolleyesv1:

What is your problem?

Of course he could have r*ped her.

The point of my post is that women get murdered simply for saying no to a man’s advances.

I’m not comparing rape to unwanted advances. I’m highlighting that when women say no, that can be enough motive for a man to kill her.

What exactly are you insinuating by my post? That I’m minimising rape? FFS.

According to media reports today, there is going to be both an inquest into Audrey Torrens death (in custody), and an inquest into Audrey Griffins death.

Will they likely combine these into a single inquest covering both victim and her alleged perpetrator, a bit like the Bondi Junction Westfields murders one that get's fully underway on Monday.

'Acting Attorney-General Ron Hoenig said he had requested transcripts of Torrens’ most recent court appearances, including the decision to impose a community corrections order.

He said community safety was the state government’s highest priority and that any recommendations from a coronial inquest into Griffin’s death would be strongly considered.'

'“I don’t have answers to it now,” Minns said, after the revelations Torrens was allowed to remain in the community despite his violent history were published by the Herald.

“But as soon as we have answers, we’ll report them to the family.”'

But will the family reveal the info to the media, or Police leak the info so that the media reports it, so the community doesn't have to wait so long for the info from for the inevitably delayed inquest into Audrey Griffin's death?

A late afternoon Anzac day editorial on this case.

'Courts have to prioritise protecting women rather than their attackers

April 25, 2025 — 5.00pm
...
the running sore of NSW bail laws .... alleged perpetrators charged with serious domestic violence offences would now wear ankle bracelets and have their movements tracked around the clock if they were granted bail. But such reforms are clearly not enough.
... the state, through its laws and judicial decisions, must make it a priority to end violence against women. It should not have taken the death of Audrey Griffin for it to be brought to the forefront again.

There's a lot, and I mean really a lot, of unsolved murder on the NSW coast north of Sydney.

I'd be interested to know also, exactly how many missing there are.

With it also being reported in the below article today that Police sources claimed the vital CCTV footage was among hundreds of hours of footage police trawled through, it makes me wonder why, if the death was not deemed as suspicious, they were wasting precious resources and bothering to go through any of the hotel CCTV whatsoever (before the death was reclassified as suspicious).

'Cops had CCTV of Audrey Griffin and her alleged killer Adrian Torrens for 3 weeks'

'April 26, 2025 - 5:00AM'

'footage of Ms Griffin and Torrens was sourced from East Gosford’s Elanora Hotel on March 24, the day after the teen’s body was found less than 1km away in Erina Creek.'

'investigators did not discover the footage of the pair, which showed them walking in the same direction and within just a few hundred metres of each other, until April 17 – more than three weeks after first sourcing it.'
