Murphy's standing evasion when in the possession of the ball is his best attribute IMHO.

Easily one of the best on Ground!

Simmo, being one of the old heads there knew much more about the games small nuances. Really showed!

Also a rare plug to Daisy Thomas! Was that a heart he showed at the end?

The 2 Blue boys BOG :)

I tell you what. I think Carlton supporters are among only a few other teams supporters tonight who can say they are extremely proud of their boys and that even a 1 point loss inflicts no feeling because you are just so overwhelmed by their performance.

I swear if any Collingwood supporter or ANY supporter for that matter comes out and honestly thinks Pendlebury is in the same league as Murphy, I'll eat a hat. Pendles had the chance to win it let alone draw it for the Aussies with a simple kick which fell short and was way offline. Let alone missing targets all night.

Murphy is just all class and Simmo is an opportunist that just keeps providing that crucial run that every team needs. I'm feeling very confident towards next year :thumbsu::thumbsu:

You realise this is international rules right?

You really had me laughing.

Murphy was outstanding, he and Pendlebury turned it on in the last quarter (Murphy more so, but Pendles whether you like it or not did it too) and led the comeback. Not sure how you can say he was missing targets all night, when he was only really seen in the last quarter, where he was hitting his targets. Shame he can't kick for goal too well with the round ball.

Didn't think much of Simpson at all, but Murphy was brilliant.

Whilst I agree with you about Pendlebury. Simpson was excellent tonight. had it the equal most disposals of anyone on the Australian side and ran hard all night. Best on ground in my opinion. I'm not sure what game you were watching?

Well that seems to be the consensus so I'm not sure what I was watching either? Don't remember seeing him too much, and when I did I thought he turned it over (though nearly everyone was). But I obviously wasn't taking too much notice of him if he was up there with disposals.

How good were Murphy's smarts when he soccered the ball out to teammates in the clear? :thumbsu:

I have a man crush on Murphy.

Simpson's run down tackle was terrific and saved Australia a certain goal or whatever they're called.

Non-Carlton supporters should have learnt that Simpson is a good and very brave little player after tonight's game. ;)

Ladies and gentleman.. I give you your typical, one eyed Collingwood Supporter!
"Pendlebury turned it on in the last quarter and led the comeback" whilst you didn't "Think much of Simpson at all" who did happen to have 25 disposals 6 marks 2 tackles and 2 FF to Pendlebury's 13 touches 2 marks 1 FF and 1 FA.

I guess the only thing to say about this is that your entitled to your own opinion on the game.

Ladies and gentlemen, I give you your typical parrot understudy. Nice use of changing a quote.

I clearly said Murphy and Pendlebury led the comeback. And 11 of those touches from Pendlebury were in the last quarter, which is what I said. Pendlebury was nowhere in the first 3, but he turned it on in the last and led the comeback with Murph. Sounded like commentators agreed with me too... he was instrumental in the last.

But please, change this post into something that suits your argument, by all means.

Pendlebury had 2 touches till 3 quarter time. And then found it and sparked the revival. Murph converted 4 overs and starred for all the night. That's the difference between the two.

Put the two together and Murphy>>Pendlebury. In any category you want to put them in. Pendles is good Murph is just better.

ANd Simpson was one player who did a hell of alot of good things and didn't just do the odd saving tackle ala Thomas. Provided a lot of run and was good with his disposal. If you didn't notice him tonight then you weren't watching the same game that everyone else was.

Are you saying Thomas didn't provide run? What game were you watching? Because going by what you're saying, multiple games aired tonight, so I figure you were watching the other one to me. What channel was yours on?

And since when is this a contest between Murphy and Pendlebury? It's a international rules game. But hey, it's the Carlton board, I don't know why I'd bother talking sense with you. Continue your wank-fest, Murphy was great.Try some objectivity sometime, it will make you feel surprisingly good. The benefits of such an outstanding education I suppose. Bye for now. :)

Not to mention Pendlebury's 2 stuff ups at goal, the last one when the game was on the line. That was bloody dreadful.

Putting all this Pendelbury bashing bullshit aside, well done to the Blue boys out there toniht that did us all proud.

Murph was just about BOG for the Aussies and he looks like a natural with the round ball. His evasiveness and skill were first rate and his willingness to run never ceases to amaze me.

Simmo was also one of the Aussies best. Didn't stand out at any particular stage but got plenty of it on a consistent basis and showed why we rate him as a running player through the middle.

Watching Murph out there tonight really got me thinking that it'd be great to see Murph spending a bit of time in a forward pocket to rest during games. He's got the smarts to crumb front and centre and the skills to finish them off when they're a harder shot than a straight forward conversion. Could be another avenue to goal when he's a hard match-up for opposition defenders with his ability to find space and time with the ball.

Where did I say Pendlebury didn't help lead the last qtr comeback or not 'turn it on'. I was just amused at the comment about Simpson in your previous reply. Pendlebury was serviceable in the last qtr with 11 disposals and 8 clangers tonight.
It doesn't matter how many touches you have in the last qtr, it's how you put that to use on the scoreboard and unfortunately Pendles did nothing to change the outcome of the game. Cheap disposals 50 out from goal or taking a mark 20 out and turning the ball over don't really bring great benefit to the team. If Pendlebury had kicked a few overs and at least done something productive with the ball, I wouldn't have a point to argue.

Now let this thread be dedicated back to the great work tonight by Murphy and Simpson. :thumbsu:
