Live in London and have just finished watching the game.
This guy is fantastic. FIRST GAME !!! Oh my god. A couple of times he did that slow turn with lots of quick steps and i jsut thought VOSS.
Sensational start for a first timer. Cant think of anyone who has performed like that in the midfield straight up for a long time. Rising star 2006.

Most intelligent observers pegged him in as a future gun. Certainly did better than other debutants, esp Dalenia Thomas :)

I was very happy with this debut. As some people might have said (didnt read past first few posts), his kicking will definitely improve. It's still pre-seaon, and only his first AFL game. I thought he was really good about the packs and seems to be a smart footballer - can't wait to see him develop.

Imagine this guy when he has a set of shoulders, core strength and a arms as big as roccas thighs. He is going to be great.
Leigh Mathews was right.

On those so called wobbleys if you look at the one the young murph kicks a goal with the geelong bloke grabs at his ankles nearly tripping him did amazingly well to stay on his feet and kick the goal.

Someone is definitely still bitter about young Murphy not heading north. I think its best just to move on. I do sense your pain. :p

The thread has been cleaned up. The poster has been banned from this board.

I deletd a couple of peoples posts not because they said anything offensive but since KB posts were deleted it seemed silly to leave then there. Just left a few there at the end so people know whats going on.

I am not feeling well today and was not able to get to training. Might attend the match tomorrow if I feel better. But do not like my chances at this point of being able to keep much down.

Lets not forget after cooneys 1st year which he played most of the 2nd 1/2 of the season in the 2s he was a dud no1 draft pick. yet young jet murphy has played maybe 60 mins of 1 pre season game and we have ****************s trying to past judgement on him as an afl footballer ? ( have any of these people ever played the game other than in there school yards )

People are entitled to their opinion moody. If your logic were to run its natural course then you may end up saying that only those with a brownlow have the right to comment. Stipulating requirements, or questioning peoples background to comment only undermines your own argument as it defelcts from the issue and is considered a cheap shot. Argue the point not the person.
Agree with you though.
Cheers.

its simple, the kid cant kick have watched him at training WHERE THERE IS NO PRESSURE and he still cant hit a target so there goes that excuse ! if it was anyone else out there missing targets like he has yous all would be saying there not up to it ! fair enough we want him to turn out a superstar but dont get on here and make up lies and excuses for him his skills are simply not up to it at this stage and for a number 1 they should be

The Marc Murphy I've seen at training had no problem hitting targets at training, so you're just being a knob on purpose with your second post. He was never going to be a Deledio or Goddard with his foot skills according to those who know ;) , but he has no problems winning his own ball and he goes in hard despite being 178 cms tall. It's only his second game and he is still getting used to the pace of the game.

You can't say that about another Carlton player who can kick the ball but takes short steps. ;)

Dale Thomas and Marc Murphy had very similar games in round 1 of NAB Cup. Both had around 8 possies and while had a few skill errors both showed tons of class and grit required at AFL level.

He is only young, give the lad time. There are flaws in his game, but every youngster has flaws. I just hope he gets the right tutelage because he has all the tools to be a very solid 200 game player if he gets a few flaws fixed.

Some of you people are insane. Genuinely insane. I couldn't be more happy with Marc. During the game on the weekend he was the only player in our entire team to accurate kick it into the forward 50 accurately and to the benefit of our leading forwards. The only god damn one!
