Gibbs.

Murphy is going to be a very good on-baller for a decade or more - the next Peter Bell. Gibbs is going to be a superstar.

A BMW or a Merc?
Jen Hawkins or Megan Gale?
Tendulkar or Lara?

Gibbs or Murph?

Love em both! :D

Gibbs will be a better player. Uses the ball better, and is tall enough to play a variety of roles.

Last year i thought Murphy was always going to be the better player long term, but Gibbs has shown that he will just keep growing and growing in stature.

Gibbs will be far superior i reckon. 'Shank' Murphy has claims on being the worst kick in the league, unless he can find a miracle cure to pathetic kicking disposal he will never be anything more than a good player who the opposition let get the ball because they know a turnover is coming up.

His kicking for goal isn't the best, but his field kicking is pretty good. If you don't believe me, have a look at his stats for the season. He very rarely falls below about 75% efficiency, which is one about the same level as Chris Judd.

As far as half back flankers go, Tom Murphy is slightly bigger, taller and quicker than Bryce Gibbs.
I would rate Murphy higher for his ability to lock down on opponents.

But Gibbs shows the poise of a champion. In a few years, as he increases his engine and muscle mass, he will be one of the good midfielders.

Disposal efficiency is a bit of a furphy i reckon, especially when it comes to someone like Murphy. He is an excellent handballer, when he goes into packs and gets a handball it usually hits a target, that helps his efficiency.

But don't tell me Carlton supporters don't have their hearts in their mouths when he kicks it more then 40m, it could go anywhere.

Every other aspect of his game is superb, but his kicking is quite a fair bit below average.

Fevola had his heart in his mouth after Murphy baulked Burgoyne and weighted a perfect kick over Carlile's head on Saturday.

Murphy's kicks have a higher degree of difficulty because he doesn't receive and win the ball in space on the flanks like Pendlebury and Thomas.

He normally kicks when he's running flat out and in traffic.

Murphy has had more score assists than Pendlebury, Selwood and Thomas this year, so he must be doing something right.

Murphy has kicked more goals than Foley this year.

I'm sure he'll improve over time because he's a gun and a hard worker, but I'm not worried when he can kicks goals such as these.
