For those who say Murphy is high in kicking % u must be blind. His kicks are 30m backwards sideways kicks to free
men under no pressure. Pleaseeeee don't use that as an excuse.

Did you see that handpass to lewis. How he freezes under pressure.

What of that pathetic effort on Rohan when he passed it to okeefe

I'm not a Murphy fan, nor am I hater, but I'm getting sick of reading all this rubbish about him.

I hope you all bloody well shut up when you hear silver tonsils whatshisname read out out the words 'number 29.....Thomas Murphy' at 5.12pm on grand final day.

Imagine if the first sentance is "The 2011 Norm Smith Medal Goes To....."

Anyhow, when we get to full strength and all kids develope etc I think Murph will slide out of the team. However, his year has been great, he has rarely been beaten and obviously has huge respect among both the coaching and the playing group. I trust their judgement.

When we were in the game against Geelong, he was towelling SJ up. SJ then got on top, same way that Pods got the better of Gibbo and Hawkins got Shoey. It might be time to give Murph a different match up against Geelong as SJ might have worked him out. I have no doubt that he will play this week, and hopefully next.

That type of pressure would be lapped up by Cheney in my view and Rohan would not of got that kick off...way too much time and space.

I have been impressed by Cheney, but lets be realistic, Cheney has played one senior game in a month, which was against GC, I cannot recall his last game before that, which means he is lacking match fitness/conditioning. If he was in the selection mix, he would have been playing for the development squad, which he was not.

I hate these threads about Murph.

He's in the team for one reason - shutting down and running with the smaller forwards of the opposition. How many goals did Betts kick against us in rd 22 or whenever it was?

The coaches clearly believe he has a purpose in this team, so it is unlikely that he will be dropped.

He has a job to do. He does it week in, week out.

that is true, I was impressed with him that is all..plenty of upside to his game, only wish he got more game time

I was going to explain it all over again... but really I couldn't be stuffed...

Can you tell me when this handball was (seriously, if anyone knows the time as I want to see it again)? I would love to take another look at it. And so if your not hating and this hospital handball is a valid reason for you to hate, I mean call for his head, did you call for Mitch's when he almost got Lewis killed last year v the Bulldogs with a hospital pass? No? Well, I think we know the conclusion!

And as for this crap about backwards kicking etc! ITS PART OF THE GAME PLAN! All the other players make the same kicks, he just sticks his more often then not (83% of the time actually)! Others don't! And while I am at it, if you are taking away the easy stuff from him doing good, are you taking away the mistakes he makes under the greatest pressure? Didn't think so!

Does anyone want to have a little wager on Murphy's B&F finishing position. Personally I predict he will finish approx 12th but wouldn't be surprised to see him in the top 10.

Hodge just said he was outstanding on the weekend. We'll need him to make sure he stops the Pies best small forward.

Why do you continually bring out this Hater bull shit every time someone writes a post about Tommy.

Are you related to him? If so we are calling a spade a spade and its nothing personal at all. This is a football forum where people discuss our club and players.

If you did a poll amongst every Hawthorn supporter if Tommy is in our best 22 I would predict 80% would say no.

We are not haters. We infact are LOVERS of our club and trying to understand why he gets a game in front of others.

ease up on the bully tactics of calling people Haters becuase you have different view. people are making valid points.

Its not a personal attack.

A) Where did I mention Haters in that post? ;-)
b) I don't consider it A personal attack I consider it facT! Just as you think its fact that Murphy shouldn't bE in the side and how you think that 80 peRcent of people would think he should be out

Lets assume you are right about the 80%, thank good AC and the other smart coaches are in the 20%!

I hate the word hayer, and would like to see it substituted with critic. I don't believe any Hawk fan hates Murphy, ( I certainly don't) and shouldn't be labelled as such, just for being critical.

Watching the replay.. And call me a hater but I seriously don't understand what he brings to the team accept "leadership". Yes it's about structures but he doesn't offer any rebound or punch or take marks?

I seriously doubt if you know anything about footy.

Let's face it. All posters that believe Murphy is not good enough to hold his spot are really at odds with Clarko.

That's the way I see it.

Murphy had a badish game, but why dose every one of his badish games deserve a thread?

Because his form has dropped off and he is a very awkward looking footballer and people are stressed about the performance of our defence. He has pros and cons but the big problem with him is when he has a bad moment or even a bad game, he doesn't really have an avenue through which he can redeem himself.

He looks to me as if he is slower than last year which is worrying given he plays on small forwards.

Molly, I admire your passion but you are too emotionally invested to be part of a reasoned discussion about Murphy. People are unfair on him at times but it is not unfair to question his position in the team given he has not being at his best of late. Doubt he will get dropped now and in any case I trust the match committee but if he fails in another final I would question whether he is worth persisting with next year as anything more than depth.

Your kidding me, right?

Awkward looking????? Is there point for style now? Give me a break. Most awkward looking player in the game is Cameron Ling, and I can't wait for him to retire as he flogs us every game!

When he has a bad game???? Fair enough. When that finally happens, let me know!

fails in another final??? When was the first one he "Fail(ed)" in? Against the Cats? Well, will Gibbo be questioned if he "fails" in another final? What about Mitch, Rioli, etc?

Someone has to be the voice of reason here!

I am not a fan of his and whilst I thought he was poor against the Swans, I thought he was very good in keeping diver Johnston quiet against the Cats.

It is what it is peoples.

If by keeping a half forward flanker to just 27 possessions is 'very good' I whole heartedly agree.

If Stevie J hadn't been a lair and kicked straight, it would have been even worse.

Please I am not a 'hater' just calling it how I see it.

Look when he got most of his 27 disposals and it was when the flood gates had opened and Gibbo and Shoey were leaking as well. If the cats get the ball into the forward 50 70 times, I think SteveJ is going to get a lot of touches!
