With the impending decision on whether Tocumwal will be accepted into the picola league nth wst Div (essentially a relegation) and rumours of at least one other MFL club discussing it options is it time to revisit the discussion as to whether a 3 tier Murray/Picola league should be considered.

Reaons for:
1 Essentially both leagues cover the same geographical area.
2 It would give Struggling/Dominant clubs in either division 1 or 2 a more streamlined process in which to move up/down a level, whilst giving the the clubs the struggle the most to compete the best chance of doing so in div 3

Points:
1. Below I have quickly put together an example of a possible initial set up, based on clubs ave finishing position (H&A) over the past 5 years, taking into account some other information such as demographics. This just an example there are many methods to work out it would look initially

2.Promotion/Relegation could be done by the folling methods
  • promotion relegation to happen automatically (based on yearly, bi-yearly or tri-yearly ave finishing postions)
  • Or by application/agreement to the league co-signed by a club in each division each wishing to promote/Relegate themselves (essentially a swap)

Nathalia have won 4 of the last 8 MFL grand finals , which is an example of the difficulties a relegation / delegation system presents.

Intimidator

Great work with the league split up. The only teams I would swap around is Nathalia with Barooga. Barooga may have been a power house a few years ago but now are in a bit of trouble. Looking for a steady progression with the Purples over the next few years with the structure they have in place with sticking with the locals for the near future.

Hearing Tim Hargreaves, the Oswald brothers, 'Sauce' Lonergan & Will Gorman to Barooga. Ramsdale on the right course.

Lets get the ball rolling.. Who has some news?

Have heard that amoungst other recruits, rumbalara have secured ex collingwood and west coast player Brad Dick for season 2014. I know they've secured a majority of their current playing list, with the only player not able to commit (so far) being Levi Power who's moved away to Canberra but te signing of brad is a very encouraging result for first time coach Damian Cupido who I expect to cause a few headaches him self. What this space in coming days/weeks for more news

Can anyone confirm talks of Kyabram PREMIERSHIP forward Paul Newman to Tongala. i've heard it twice now.
Logical and hope so, but from the reports I have got, with his injury he is not even sure if he will be playing at this stage. He did always so that he'd play at Tonny at some point, and now that he has that elusive premiership in the bag it might just happen.

Pretty sure he recommitted to Ky at their presentation night...sure all full backs in the MFL would be happy with that!
