Rumours of a 2 division Murray league taking shape next season, Any truth to this?

6 teams each won't work, unless 8 more clubs enter and very doubtful of that

Would be interesting how it would look how do you pick which sides are in which division? As I am sure most clubs would think they are division 1 sides

Barooga are trying to drive it and have not made friends by claiming specific clubs have a committed interest.

Some are suggesting unsettling other clubs recruiting, is the impetus .

If true Barooga might be burning bridges they might like to cross or have as an option to cross in the future, as so to speak .

So, are they wanting to go into a div 2 competition. They would be the only team, Tongala finished 10th and made a late charge for finals.

Understand Barroga both seniors' team were last, but there 17s and 14s I think were competitive. Most likely be some pain for a few years but keep developing the kids and recruit some key players and they will bounce back

MFL is probably the most even competition out of all comps.

MFL is probably the most even competition out of all comps.

They are unlikely to ever get a coach or coaches who have more local drawing power than they have announced for 2026.
Rumour is that despite those appointments they aren’t making expected in roads .
It is also no real secret that for a while they have reached out with local clubs re-merger , which has received little interest.

There is heaps of quality players coming into the league for next season, I think position 3-9 will be tightly contested.

I personally believe the biggest change in the last 3-4 years is clubs aren’t just recruiting players that can find the Sherrin.

They are people you want around your club. Some clubs even have junior development coach’s now. I think this is the reason MFL is thriving and our premier league in our region(GVL) is dipping and getting left behind.

I feel that the Murray League (and to a similar extent the Heathcote League) are experiencing being the 'sweet spot' at present. The clubs are well connected to their communities, through being able to cater for players from 10 years old to 40 years old. While the standard is regarded as being above other community leagues without training needing to impact beyond Tuesday and Thursday nights.

Honestly, you know where they will end up like everyone else on here. It wasn't meant to be disrespectful but it will be reality.

Is there a likely hood the Murray league won’t let them leave as has happened over recent years with clubs around the state wanting to move and being accepted by the destination league?
